I was in NOLA last year visiting my brother and got some from Manny Randazzos - they were great.

Not gonna be in New Orleans anytime soon, so, can you guys give me a good place that can mail me one/two that will still be in relatively good shape when it gets to me.

My brother mentioned that Antoine's Bakery s pretty good too.

Other suggestions?

Haydel's and if you search, you'll find a very recent thread.

Whoever in that other thread said that Whole a Foods has a good king cake should be beaten! That's not even close to being a traditional king cake and it's not even that good.

We had a fresh one from Rouses and it was not bad at all. Way better than Whole Foods.

In the nola metro area, I think Haydel's is top notch. I also really like the doughnut style king cake that Take Away Donuts does in Boutte (right off of 3-10).

In NOLA nobody beats Sucre.

Sucre kingcakes are impressive to look at. Beautiful... But not very good unless warmed.

You are right about having to heat them up ...

I also like Cake Cafe's apple and goat cheese king cake but that also needs to be heated up.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I may just take a day or so off and come down for a weekend - stay with my brother in Metairie.

I'll take you guys up and go visit some of these places for myself.

Why does everyone think this? It isn't terrible, but it doesn't even crack the top 5 for me.

Maybe the name and pretty of it help
