What is the most advantageous post work out shake to build lean muscle?

Currently I drink this after a workout:

Banana
Strawberries
Bluberries
fat free cottage cheese
Peanut butter
protein powder
skim milk
ice

Should I add more carbs? Currently 5'10" 165 and want to add lean muscle.

...and I realize the irony of Jose Canseco asking for workout advice. Do your worse...

FWIW, i was serious about chocolate milk.

if you're going for the natural thing, its pretty clutch. just a lot of fat though.

Milk isn't the issue. I drink milk like it's going out of style. 2 gallons a week. Just wondering if I should up my carbs post workout for the protein to absorb efficiently?

I've been cutting carbs on daily meals to reduce the bad weight. Am I wrong?

That smoothie is gonna build fatty muscle. You need more hydrocarbons.

Such as?

I'm not familiar with the term hydrocarbons?

I'm concentrating on the heavy lift exercises. Presses and lifts.

No, just add muscle. Don't put on fat just so you can say you weigh 200 lbs and look like shite. Do it the right way.

Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60= for a protein shake post workout. Buy it at GNC.

Your welcome!

Thats actually a pretty nice mix. I usually do something similar. If needing more carbs, throw in some dry oatmeal or replace the milk with OJ or gatorade... And drop a spoonful of creatine mono and you're good to go

You also need to take in 165 - 248 G PER DAY for your body weight of 165lbs for best results.

This is much more protein than some people might think. Might need to eat a couple of protein bars through out the day. Try to keep up with it and hit your target range.

Thanks. I typically take my creatine pre-workout with OJ. Not sure if I should up the carbs post workout. I typically hit the gym around 5pm.

I'm worried about late night carbs/sugar

If taken around your workout (pre/intra/ post) you should be ok. The oats are a lower glycemic carb also. I would probably limit carbs after your shake

I'm manage my protein grams around 150-200 grams a day. I'm not educated enough to know what the perfect post workout shake should be.

Should I up the carbs post-workout even if I lift in the evening? Does it matter as long as I workout 5 days a week?

Your body doesn't know what time it is

All that matters is reaching your calorie and macronutrient goal for that day.

Usually post workout, people consume fast digesting carbs (juice/ fruit) and protein (whey) , but since you are consuming before bed, it is good to throw in the cottage cheese (casein) and oats. That should help keep you full over night.

Are you eating a meal after this shake or just going to sleep?
