I figure the guys on this board would be the best to ask for an opinion on the Chevy Silverado LTZ. If it makes a difference regarding opinions, it's a truck I'll be using as a get around town/long trip type vehicle. Won't be towing a boat, trailer or anything like that on a consistent basis.

I test drove it and like it. I've got what I think is a good price on it (2014 model) but I'd like to know if there are any issues or drawbacks I may not be aware of.

Appreciate any insight you can offer.

For your troubles...

Oh my I have a 2014 sierra SLT but since you decided to wreck my train of thought with that pic, I'm no help.

Eta. Ok I remember now. I had to have my ring gear changed out at 1000 miles. It apparently a very big issue with there 14' just google it. Also, my drivers seat moves when I turn or hit the breaks. The only fix from the stealership is to remove the upholstery from the frame and add some clamps along the frame somewhere. Other than that, I have no complaints. Rides real nice and quiet. Gets great gas milage for what it is.

I have no problems with my 2014. The only thing I plan on doing is disabling the DOD (system that cuts out 4 cylinders) mainly because my buddy is a GM tech and he says they have had some issues with it.

just reading more reviews online and seems like A LOT of people are complaining about major shaking occurring with the vehicle at higher speeds. you experience any issues with that?

Why Do I Drive A Chevy? Because I Don't Suck Dick...

In all seriousness....I love mine. Had an '07 new body style with a Duramax that had 178K on it before some POS stole it a few months back. Got insurance money back and bought an '08 with a Duramax. Love it also. My Dad also has an '07 with a Duramax. He loves his.

Literally zero issues with any of our Chevy's (past or present). He has an 18K fifth wheel that he tows with his and we have a fifth wheel that weighs 16K. It tows it great. I really do love my truck and love the Duramax. I won't lie, I'm not necessarily loyal to a Chevy, but I am loyal to the Duramax.

To better answer your question....as far as all of the other parts on the truck...no issues whatsoever (past or present trucks).

I have not experienced this vibration issue. But I drove a Jeep for 5 years before this truck and everything vibrates and shakes in a Jeep.

Bought an 08 LTZ in November of 07. Now has 145,000 miles. No issues. No shaking. Still get 22 MPG on trips (about 17 in town). I'll drive it until it dies

If you get mud on the wheels it will throw them off balance and the shaking is something serious. If they are clean there is no shake at high speeds. I've tested to 140.

I had a 2011 absolutely loved it no issues what so ever.. The new body styles came in.. So I traded it in and got the LTZ 2014 6 months ago. 6.2 liter V8 truck has tons of power. I would get rid of my wife before I let this truck go.. No issues what so ever.. They also make LTZ. With the 5.3 if you want a little smaller motor.. But I say go big or go home..

I have a 2014 and it does shake between about 73 - 78 mph. Sometimes it doesnt and sometimes it does. I researched and found it to be very common and they dont know why it happens. It doesnt bother me anymore since I know its not just my truck and its not eating the tires. Very strange, but other than that I really like the truck.

i had a 2010 silverado ltz... this year in july was going to get another truck, had decided i was just going to get the lt z71 instead. went to dealership, sit in another ltz, and there was no way i was leaving in nothing except another ltz. The options i was going to be missing out on were not worth paying les for. So i now have the 2014 LTZ and 15k miles later it has been an amazing truck, and well worth it

My dad just bought a 14 silverado Crewcab 2wd and it also shimmys at interstate speeds, but I think it's the shitty good year eagle tires they put on them. Those tires offer very little traction

I bought a new 2014 about 2 months ago, crew, loaded. It burnt to the ground in Albertsons parking lot somehow, while grocery shopping, insurance company totaled it. Made one payment, rumor is there are more catching fire, started under the truck, around the spare tire area.

I have a 2013 crew Ram 1500 also, never thought I would say this, the Ram rides much better.

Holy shite. GM didn't step in to determine the cause of the fire?
