I know there are likey a few moves still to come but lets see what the lineup would look like on a typical day for Houston assuming the guys here today are the guys starting the season:

Altuve 2b
Fowler CF
Springer RF
Lowrie SS
Gattis LF
Carter DH
Castro C
Dominguez/Marwin G 3B
Singelton 1b

a lithe better than last year for sure.

I think Gattis will be the permanent DH. He's a liability in LF. Add in the short porch in left and he's going to be so damn lost.

Definitely better than prior years, but damn there is a lot of swing and miss in that lineup. A lot of power too though.

There is no way Gattis could be worse in LF than Carter.

It's a race to see if we can get more catchers or DH types.

Any truth to the "Scherzer to Astros" rumor?

If so, PRINT THE SHIRTS!!!

By most accounts, Gattis is penciled in to mostly play LF. MMP's short porch in left field makes it a little easier to play LF there compared to most other parks. He will also fill in at catcher and, apparently, 1st base too occasionally.

Astros fans went years watching Carlos Lee trot out to LF every day, so we are used to mediocre defense out there, . And as someone mentioned, better Gattis play in the field than Carter.

He moves forward and backward very poorly. I cannot imagine how many balls will fall in front of him without Simmons covering his arse on short fly balls.

Maybe you're having a hard time understanding that for 5 plus years, Carlos Lee played left field for the Astros. He once broke our shortstops leg running in from left field

It doesn't get a whole lot worse than him.

I think it'll be Gattis at 1B, Carter DH, Marisnick in CF (great D), Fowler in LF, and Singleton to AAA unless he goes off in ST.

At least the bullpen is better.

Fresno this year.

I think pitching will be Better this year. A better bullpen will take some pressure off the young starters.

The AL West will be the strongest division in baseball this year.
