TOBS is the good style of scent in sandalwood. It smells like Art of shaving. But AOS is more expensive and no better. Proraso red is a more earthy scent of sandalwood. You can do no better than TOBS at that price point. DRHarris is just as good. It's just a matter of preference. Gotta step your game up to GFTrumpers or Truefitt and Hill or even higher Castle Forbes. Highest I have seen for anyone's amusement. Google Santa Maria Novella.

I disagree. I'm a fan of the AOS sandlewood. I think it's the best out there. I really like the performance of the AOS line. To me, t he castle forbes and T&H are not worth the step up in price.

How do you like the alum block? Anyone else have experience with these?

I don't know if it was the alum bloc alone, or a combination of me switching to a safety razor, but my skin irritation on my neck and ingrown hairs have been reduced to almost 0.

No. What works for me is a Wal-Greens stiptic pencil for straight nicks/bleeders and I use witch hazel as an astringent - I started with witch hazel after I started shaving my head. When I started wet shaving with a safety razor, it just seemed natural.

I am looking for an aftershave, though.

Merkur long handle
Astra Superior blades
Escali Badger hair brush and stand
Taylor of Old Bondstreet-Sandalwood
Art of shaving pre-shave oil

Bought it all for around $115 a year ago and haven't spent a dime on shaving since..
Would never go back to multi blade razors

I'm about to dive in.

Gonna grab a Merkur 34C and TOS Sandalwood.

How much did you spend and what type of brush does everyone use?

I heard badger is better, but is worth it to grab a super badger as opposed to best badger?

Anyone have any experience with a 1967 Gillette Super Speed and can comment on how mild or aggressive it is?

Astra Superior blades

I recently tried these (the stainless, also have the platinum to try). You can buy these 100 for 9 bucks on Amazon. Love them. Probably will make the switch from Feathers.

Put a new Feather blade in my handle this morning. I love my Feather blades, but keep seeing you guys pumping Astra. Not sure how many different types of Astra blades there are, but the ones that came in my sampler from Amazon sucked.
