His mental lapses and lack of mental toughness remind me of James Blake
I don't think he's mentally tough, but I also don't think he has top 20 talent. The ONLY way he could be a top 20 guy is if he became a Ferrer-esque workout warrior. It's just tough for a guy his size on the tour. He's like 150 lbs. He's listed at six feet, but is more like 5-10. He can't push people around. He's actually a little bit of a "pusher" (I hate using that term because it's a bit of a pejorative, but it does get the point across...he gets balls back and can move). Guys like him are amazing in juniors, but often have trouble making the leap.
For the record, I like Donald Young and think he's overcriticized.

Young is done and the rest of the Americans in their mid20s are garbage. The US does have a very good wave of 16-19 year olds who should be transitioning to the pro tour main fraws shortly. Donaldson, Kozlov, Rubin, Fritz, Tiafoe, Mmoh, Opelka ( a isner clone) have all been in the top 20 for ITF juniors in the last year, so hopeful with the numbers we have, at least 1-2, if not more, will have great success on the next level. Unfortunately, as these juniors aren't having success until around ages 23-25 now, we probably have to wait another 3-5 years for an American to have a shot to win a GS.
If Kozlov is still growing, and adds even another inch or two, he'll be a top 10 guy. I saw him play live last year, and that guy is really really really good at tennis. Him and Donaldson played the Bryan Bros in dubs, and gave them all they could handle for a set. Kozlov's shotmaking is uncanny. There is no shot he can't hit.

So I'm playing "Fantasy Tennis" this year with two buddies, and we just had our draft. We have 9 guys each, but only get to to "start" 5 per tournament.
ETA: lineup deleted so you all can compare all lineups (see page 2 of this thread).
Okay, so who wins my Fantasy Tennis league.
Owner 1:
Djokovic
Stan The Man
Grigor
Ferrer
Jo Willie Tsonga
Nick Kyrgios
Ivo Karlovic
Bernard Tomic
Kevin Anderson
Owner 2:
Rafa Nadal
Andy Murray
Cilic
Delpo
Gulbis
Isner
Alex Dolgopolov
Jerzey Janowicz
Vasek Pospisil
Owner 3:
Federer
Kei Nishikori
Raonic
Berdych
Monfils
Bautista-agut
Feliciano Lopez
David Goffin
Final Pick [TBD]
We're doing all four majors and Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Paris. Scoring is obviously based on advancement into the draw.* We "start" five guys from our roster of 9. The Masters events are worth half of what the majors are worth.
For majors:
Winner 10 points
Finalist 7 points
Semi 5 points
Quarter 2 points
Loss before quarter -2 points
Loss in first round -5 points
Who wins between the three owners?

Basically guaranteed quarters every tournament.
Other top 4's have more inconsistency (delpo, cilic, dimitrov). Berdych won't win but he won't go out in the third either.

True, but I also don't see any of that group winning majors. Fed could, but I don't think he will. Same for Kei. I don't see Berdych winning a major, and the mere thought of Milos Raonic winning a major makes me sick to my stomach.

Draws are out. Federer draw looks rough with some young guns (Coric, krygios, dimitrov) and then Murray and Nadal. Djoker has a joke of a draw.

For Apple users, Apple TV just added Tennis Channel I'm sure that means extensive coverage for the majority of matches at AO this year.

Rafa is sandbagging, saying the back is a problem. LINK
The usual preemptive strike form the Nadal camp that he is injured going in to a big tournament. I'm sure we will see the guy running around like the greatest player of all time for 4 or 5 matches, then once he gets in a tough match, and maybe down a set or two, he'll start taking injury time outs, hobbling,, etc. Then, after losing the match, give all the credit to the other player and say his loss had nothing to do with the injury. But one week later, when he is back in Spain, Uncle Toni will disclose that disclose that Nadal was severely hampered by his back and isn't sure when he will return. Then, 4 weeks later, Nadal enters and dominates 5 straight Master's Clay events.

Is this a Golden Age of American junior tennis?
Recency bias isn't to be discounted in answering this question, but there's no denying 2014 was a great year for juniors from the United States. Stefan Kozlov reached two junior slam finals; three of the four Wimbledon semifinalists were from the US, producing the first all-American boys final since 1977. The last three Grade A events of 2014 were won by US boys Kozlov, Taylor Fritz and Michael Mmoh, all of whom finished in the ITF year-end Top 10. Reilly Opelka won two ITF Grade 1 events in the second half of the year. Mmoh, William Blumberg and Gianni Ross won the Junior Davis Cup. Bellis claimed the ITF World Junior Championship title, Sonya Kenin captured the Orange Bowl over American Ingrid Neel, and Bellis, Kenin and Tornado Alicia Black won the Junior Fed Cup. The bad news? No American made the US Open Junior finals for the first time since 2007. The good news? All those named above are still eligible to compete in junior slams in 2015.
Looks like we are about 3-5 years away from having some good American tennis players to pull for

Sweet! I hope some of those players pan out. It has been a rough decade or so for men's tennis in America.

Rafa quits in tough matches? Somebody hasn't seen him play a fifth set against Federer, it appears.

Could the title of that article be a bit more misleading?

Stefan Koslov is the real deal.
