Sounds like any profit made will go straight to the land lease/ownership.

So they basically just want you to donate $5k.

So my 5 grand wouldn't even allow me to play there? Sweet!

Correct. Your $5 will be used to subsidize the losses of the course's lenders whose collateral is so shitty it's not worth foreclosing.

The good news is you don't have to worry about the property being shitty, because you won't actually own anything.

Well he does say "Or you might just make a small donation to the cause. Every bit helps." Who the hell puts this in a letter seeking to raise a half million dollars? I am going out to ask for money tomorrow for something if this shite works.

Sorry to rain on their parade, but these people don't have a clue what it will take to get that golf course back to being playable. Just scratching the surface, they have zero equipment, and the entire irrigation system is in complete shambles. $500,000 is absolutely laughable.

$500,000. Lol.

Have they done any maintenance since they closed? I haven't been out there, but I'm imagining that you can barely see the bones of a golf course, but only if you knew it was there. I doubt a random person would be able to tell you whether it was a golf course or a cow pasture.

There is a slim chance that you can get your money back if the course is successful. After the first year we will have predetermined percentages for the property owner, investors and golf course maintenance. So, it is really up to us to make this course successful.

Does my investment include membership?
It does not include membership. It is an investment in opening up the golf course.

What a sales pitch

This has to be a typo, but I can't figure out what word to change to make it better.

Even if it's a typo, that again makes my point. Who the hell doesn't double proof-read a letter seeking to raise a half million dollars?

This is clown shoes all around.

If I had 5k laying around, I surley woudn't give it to this guy as a donation with no guarantee of getting my money back, And with no playing privileges. I saw it this summer. They need a couple million. They have a nice st augustine drving range tho.

That's exactly what it sounds like - a donation with 0 % chance ROI

They should take the 500K and turn it into a Putt-Putt instead.

Those things used to be money printing machines.
