Gas Range Brand Help - 48"

About to start a complete kitchen rebuild, I have had the architect draw in a space for a 48" gas range but I am at a loss on my selection. I am leaning toward the DCS with the five burner (four and one in the center) with the large griddle on one side and the large/small oven setup. I am really set on the larger griddle and the two ovens but am pretty open other than that.

Does anyone own/owned a specific brand they can recommend or not recommend? I tried the internet but it seems that there are reviews going both ways on every single brand out there.

Budget? That will determine brands we might suggest.

You will tempted to buy one that size designed for a commercial kitchen from a restaurant supplier. Do not. They are not insulated, it will be like a furnace in your kitchen.

For a true range, I like the look of the blue stars. No experience with them though.

That will be a sweet setup.

My in-laws have the viking pretty close to what you described and I love cooking on it. Just an FYI, but in 6+years, the griddle hasn't been fired up once because it's a pain to clean compared to a pan.

Consider the oven sizes and the way you cook. I don't know the size of the large ovens on these two oven ranges as mine are both wall ovens and fit large baking sheets and those large foil pans they sell at Sam's. If you don't cook in large quantities, it may not matter to you. Small ovens don't so it for me, so when I first gutted my kitchen, I got the stovetop and the two large wall ovens.

The double ovens I have looked at thus far are generally one large and one that will fit a cookie sheet. Which is perfect for me.

I have a 36" dcs and love it. I got the 6 burner and just use a big griddle on two of the burners instead of getting the built in one. Easier to clean. One good thing about the dcs range is you get a free 2 drawer dishwasher with it. When you include that it's hard to go with another brand

Eta: the dishwasher is really nice fwiw. Quiet and cleans well and looks really kewl

That's going to be tough. A dual fuel 36" with no griddle and one oven costs $6k for a nice one. Blue Star's 36" is $5900, the 48 starts at 8k. Pretty cool though.

You probably want to either hire someone to install it or get 3 friends to come help. They are heavy boogers. We just lifted onto an furniture dolly and rolled it on cardboard to where it needed to go. Wasn't too bad

Eta: that hood vent is going to be expensive. Hope you budgeted for that

My 36" Jenn-Air was $4500 plus tax as well, but it's not dual fuel and it's not self cleaning (and it's not a major brand like Wolf or Viking). I think I paid extra for a higher backsplash thing, but I forget what that costs.

Have a Thermador for 14 years. Six burners, griddle and two ovens. Never a problem

I got all gas instead of duel fuel. The dcs comes with two sizes of backsplashes but I didn't use them

Another word of advice...pick out the stove and give the installation manual to the plumber and electrician before they do their thing. There is usually a designated area behind the stove for utilities for you to be able to push it all the way against the wall
