Cook two pieces of bacon in the pot until they get a little crispy. Throw in the beans with water. Add salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and celery.

Slow-Cooked Country Green Beans

This is basically what my mom does and I swear I could eat the whole pot. Love.

Take 5 "raw" green beans, roll them in 1/3rd piece of bacon, toothpick. Repeat till you have 20 or 25 "pods".

Place on baking sheet. Put in oven on 350, 30 to 40 minutes.

Use leftover green beans in frittata with ham and cheese. A smoky Gouda or cheddar if you have it.

Heat a few tablespoons of EVOO in a skillet. Throw in the green beans with the ends snipped, over med heat. Shake the pan and saute the beans a few minutes. Hit with salt , pepper and a T or two of garlic. Lid it for a minute or two, and they are done. Cook time is five minutes or less.

Cut a small can of spam into small cubes and brown in a pan. Add green beans, tomato sauce and then simmer for a while.

I like mine slow cooked long, too, Wink. I don't care for crispy green beans. They soak up flavors when the texture changes and the liquor is darn good. They're especially good the next day when they've had more time to soak up the flavor.

Start browning some smoked sausage, throw in onions, garlic, diced red potatoes, & green beans. Smother that down & enjoy.

Skinny hericot verts are good crunchy but green beans should be softer, imo. Amen on the next day too.

I probably overcook the haricot verts because while I can take them crunchy, I still want a minimum crunch.

Just do the first part of this recipe, green beans with bacon and onion. Delicious. I know you said no casserole also but if you continue on with casserole recipe it will be the best you've ever had. Made from scratch and not that cream of mushroom shite.

Pretty much all listed above as long as they are cooked through. I'm not a crispy green bean guy. I'm a South Louisiana guy.
