Was it a 12 pointer like you said?

Regardless it's still bush league.

There aren't any pictures and the info I've got so far has a few holes in it. I've basically just got a conspiracy theory right now.

I sould clarify. There aren't any pictures of a 12 point. There is a picture of an 8 point. Good call, alx. But that's where the conspiracy starts. There is info that leads me to believe that the 8 point is just smoke and mirrors. There's another deer that we know was killed but no one will say where.

She's fugly. Looked him up on Facebook and clicked on a deer pic. First comment: "where u been poaching?" Can't make this shite up. But to whoever said I really don't have shite, you're right. Nothing I can prove, but he's specifically on our radar out there now.

Why dont you call him and ask him where he killed it at? Of course he'll lie about it, but it'll also let him know in the back of his mind that youre onto him and it may prevent him from doing it again. If he does it again, shoot him.

I'd go hide about 20 wood ducks in his truck in a trash bag and call GJ.

Here's the thing:

Scroll to bottom for TLDR version.

We'll call him my uncle, but he's really my half sister's uncle. Her father is the one that owns the land I hunt. He's basically given me and my brother in law the reigns with everything. However, his brother is a fricking idiot and an alcoholic.

It starts and ends with him. Yesterday he heard of a big deer killed "in the bottom" (what he calls where we hunt). He calls my BIL and me at 9:00 yesterday AM. He asks if we shot it. Nope. So I send him a text since I couldn't answer when he called asking for details like who he heard it from, where did he hear it was killed, etc. Nothing. No response. So I call him when I get off work and in the middle of the second ringtone, I get sent straight to voicemail. He's avoiding my calls.

My BIL, meanwhile, is talking to the neighboring landowners to see what they know. That's when the picture of the 8 point and the name come up.

My BIL spoke to the crazy uncle and he said that he heard about the deer through the son of unnamed shithead mentioned above. Crazy uncle only mentioned the big deer and did not mention the 8 point. Said, "man it was a pretty joker." So he has seen it, yet he won't say anything else about it nor send a picture of it.

Turns out this unnamed poaching son of a bitch is the guy the crazy uncle gets to "cut up his meat" whenever he kills one and has a small piece of property that joins one of our neighbors. The neighbor (we'll call him John) has caught both the unnamed poaching son of a bitch numerous times on his place, and my BIL called GJ 2 years ago when he caught his son baiting turkeys on our place.

The funny thing is, crazy alcoholic uncle didn't seem too interested in finding anything else out about the deer after we started inquiring. He knows something, and is trying to protect his buddy. Typing this out is making me more pissed, so I'm going to stop now. Sorry if it's confusing. It's basically a stream of consciousness and I'm cracked out on 3 cups of coffee.

TLDR version: Crazy uncle/adjoining landowner is in cahoots with a redneck meat inspector poaching son of a bitch and withholding information which leads my BIL and myself to think there's more to this story than being let on. BIL is ready to go all vigilante, and I'm not far behind. I will be behind him though as he is a massive SOB.

Man that's some drama there. Sucks but is there anything you can do to your Uncle?

Sure. But I don't want to go to jail. He's a stubborn, lying, backwoods alcoholic.

We had a falling out a few years ago and basically came to an agreement that would keep him off of our side and us off his. However, he hasn't held up his side of the agreement. And it seems like he has turned his head regarding this poaching SOB as well.

Bad situation when family starts screwing you. You could have a sweet deal if all involved were legit and honored each other.
Might have to break ties with the alki, or whip some arse.

The whole area consists of about 5 private properties. The guy in question owns a very small portion of one of them. Yet, his facebook page is littered with huge deer. They don't all come off of his place. There's just no way, and he's been caught several times trespassing on the neighbors. He may not have killed it on us, but I don't think he killed it on his either.

Most likely given the scenario I mentioned above.

I have a couple family members like this. They really don't want to get involved with who's screwing up who's hunting, because it isn't important to them. To them it's just a deer, and there are plenty more out there. They didn't wake up at 3-o'clock every weekend for 10 weeks, sitting out in uncomfortable positions, mentally killing themselves over how to fool a deer or turkey, only to have someone else shoot one from the road or from your stand. You can't make it a serious situation to someone who isn't serious about it. Gonna have to shake it off and move on.

But if you want to sabotage the frickers, I'd be in favor of it as long as you didn't want to physically harm them. I'm all for pissing them off or getting them in legal trouble, but whipping their arses or vandalizing their property will only hurt you. Can't whip the outlaw out of someone.

I agree. I, along with the two other guys I hunt with (BIL and T4), have spent a great deal of money and time to get it to where it is. And to have someone take a deer from our place is basically theft. A felony. Because I promise you any trophy deer that is taken on our place is worth wayyyy more than $500 to me considering the amount of money that has gone into it all.
