Alleva and TAF are just as fed up with Miles' bullshite as all of us. They gave Les a budget and a bunch of restrictions for a new contract that wouldn't screw LSU (No buyouts for the current staff, no guaranteed contracts). They told Les "you make 3.5 mil a year, YOU need to start earning some wins, we aren't bailing you out with a homerun break the bank hire."

And with all that baggage this is all Les could muster. It took 2 weeks because all his higher targets said no after sitting down with gin and going over the terms.

Ask yourself this... Would you do the exact same thing if you were Alleva and you couldn't fire Miles because his buyout is too high right now?

Alleva doesn't value his job very well if true. I doubt it came down to that because he'd be fired too.

Maybe the BOD are putting the screws to Les, and they want to see him produce before they pony up a bunch of cash for long term contracts and buyouts.

Do you think these people are stupid? They can see what we see.

They know Les' offense is holding this program back. Why put up a bunch of money for a really good D coordinator if the offense is gunna be the same. We had a good D coordinator this year and it got us bottom of the barrel SEC.

no.

In that scenario, my job security would be directly tied to Les. Knowing such, I would do whatever I could to make Les successful.

The same offense that as recently as 2013 had one of the best seasons ever in Tiger history?

Our QB play was terrible this year. Sometimes that happens when a senior leaves and a sophomore is thrust into a starting role. It isn't always plug and play like you saw with Ohio State and other schools. Sometimes these kids need time to develop.

Some of that definitely falls on coaching, but the offense was successful 2 years ago. It's not like it has been an eternity since we were good on offense. And what happened with that team? That's right, the defense let us down.

Let's see how this guy does before shitting on him. Geaux Tigers!

You're coming up with a hodgepodge of highly unlikely events to justify the fact that Miles and Alleva just totally and absolutely struck out on what could be the most important hire for LSU in more than 5 years.

I understand you want to believe someone in that office knows what he's doing, and this was all then end result of many hours of higher level machinations from someone with a great plan or idea for us...but in reality, it's just utter, sheer, and complete incompetence.

Alleva will be fired if he allows this program to collapse.. He's already lost the vast majority of the everyday fan and the big donors want wins. He doesn't have enough clout banked to hamstring DC hires of a 3.5 million dollar coach who's contract is an anvil around his neck.

I'm not shitting on Steele. I am shitting on the hire. Why? Because out of all the qualified candidates from position coaches to dcs pro and college Steele has one of the worst resumes.

Why did LSU hire him? It wasn't because he was most qualified. Was it because he was cheap? Because les liked him?

The only positive I see is he's considered a good recruiter.

I think this hire signals some type of struggle in the dept.

I can be positive about many things. If I'm very sick or under stress I can fight to get well and defeat my adversity.

How can I be positive about this team in the powers that be let a good dc walk and replace him with this?

It's a dog eat dog conference and our admin/coach is failing us. Inexcusable.

This a a huge gamble by Les. Very puzzling with the amount of money the position pays and the talent LSU attracts to settle for this. Wonder what transpired during the earlier meetings that turned people away.

Alleva may suck, but he does this for a living. He literally does this all day. Do you think Joe Blow superfan knows more stats than Alleva and his crew? Knows more info about Steele's previous jobs?

frick no. No one here has even had a conversation with Kevin Steele, or any DC for that matter.

Steele's resume is so inferior to every other candidate mentioned I refuse to believe he was our top choice. and it would have never taken 2 weeks to hire him.

Face it, everyone turned us down. Why? My theory is there were a lot of restrictions on the possible contract. Was it Alleva, was it TAF/BOD I don't know.

So he's sabotaging the head coach by not letting him make a better hire? Lol, yeah rt. Alleva needs the football program to win. That's what brings in the cash.

this is crazy. the GOAL is NOT to destroy LSU football and NOT to play these stupid games you suggest. the GOAL was to get the best DC we could so LSU football will get better.

I have no idea why we couldn't attract a top flight DC. but Steele is what we got and i'm gonna support him. I have a feeling he's gonna surprise us.

It really is. I mean. I have been here for 10 years and I can say this is the dumbest theory I have ever read on here. Therefore, dumbest fricking theory ever.

A lot of people do a lot of different things for a living and suck at it. But they don't intentionally sabotage themselves.

If Alleva wanted Miles out, then he should do that. By your theory, Alleva jumped in the sinking boat with Miles. I don't buy it.

With the way Chavis left and the way Miles runs his program, I think it came down to better candidates being wary. JMHO.

It's still a terrible hire by Miles. I'd prefer an unknown to a proven failure.
