I'm probably lame, tho....don't care

I'm lame too. I went on a bachelor party in Vegas about 15 years ago and I was miserable. I'm an admitted cheapskate and hate gambling, so Vegas is not the town for me. Thankfully, the airfare and hotel were paid for by the rich as frick groom, but I still dropped around $1000 in three days, and this was in 98. Can't imagine how expensive it is now.

Good luck OP. I don't think it's possible to do Vegas properly on a tight budget.

Book Sunday to Tuesday. Do the pool scene during the day and pass out before 9pm. That's about it.

No one really wants to spend that money on this crap but it's Vegas. What else are you gonna do? Play monopoly in your room and eat at Bubba Gump shrimp company?

Been to Vegas many times and have yet to set foot in a strip club, dance club or fancy restaurants. All my time is spent in the sports book...but that's me, and I am lame like these other guys. That being said, for a bachelor party maybe you will be obligated to go to that kind of stuff--it's cheesy to me, and was never meant to be part of my "vegas experience."
Look at staying off the strip or in Fremont...it's a good time if you're wandering around drinking and also there are stores you can buy booze in and take it onto the street. Im assuming the 1k is after airfare and hotel fees...as another poster said it will definitely be hot...I've clocked 114 degrees at 9am and it's intense. Drink water.

Man, I could tell you stories...but there are ways

Obviously, check for specials. Airlines, hotels, etc. Stay off the strip. There are many hotel motel rentals not exactly on the strip, but very close.

OR...find out the scene/coolest place to be. Plan on being there and going to the different clubs there. Crabbing Wil add up. It's 20 basically just to get in.

Liquor store. Bottles and beer on ice in room......drink there. Bring beer by pool in your own totes. Gamble early on low limit tables and get pounded on the free booze. You might drop 100 or so but get drinks out of it. Tip waitress and several can get drinks watching one or two guys bet. Drinks will be $8 in a club MINIMUM! As for draft specials.

Vegas is built on shaking every dollar out of you from the time you wake up till the time you sleep (both hours). Keep that in mind and don't get caught up in trying to be cool. You will leave broke.

Also, don't be a fricking moron and take pics with girls or while partying...the divorce will cost even more.

I appreciate all of the responses. Vegas really aint my type of scene but I dont want to be a bad best man, so I guess I'll just have to suck it up and open up the wallet more than I want to.

Anyone know of any good airline websites?

ut I was just wondering if anyone had any tips to save money.

Carry a flask. Go to booze store and buy a few handles. You can get a handle for 40-60 bucks. Most mixed drinks are 15-20.00 in Vegas. Boom. Savings.

Making alternative suggestions doesn't make you a bad best man. Is the rest of the gang ready to drop serious cash on this trip? Instead of making it seem as though you're the naysaying cheapskate, you can gently suggest to groomzilla that the gang isn't as flush with cash as he thinks (maybe somebody has a new baby, new job, unemployed wife, etc). For less than what you'd spend in Vegas, you could go charter fishing in the Keys, do an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic and go surfing in Punta Cana (Southwest flies to Punta Cana).....

Vegas is THE town of excess and if you want to do a bachelor party there on a budget then there is no point in going. Clubs and strip clubs aren't cheap, and Vegas is the Mecca of both. If you don't want to go to a club or strip club then there is nothing else unique that Vegas offers that can't be done elsewhere(don't go to Vegas for a bachelor party just to gamble).

late August

I hope you're not going during Labor Day Weekend. That's one of the busiest times of the year and everything is jacked up in price.

I've found some pretty cheap flights to Vegas via Kayak (BTR-LAS round trip for ~$320 a couple of years back). As others have said, stay off the Strip and try staying downtown. Down there the rooms are cheaper, booze is cheaper, food is cheaper, and it's always nice to get away from the madness on the Strip every now and again. If you stay downtown, get a 24 hour pass for The Deuce bus services that goes downtown to the Strip. Only $7 last time I went. Will take a little longer than a cab, but you'll save a shite ton of money.

If you decide to stay on the Strip, personally I've always stayed at Bally's. Nowhere near as glitzy and glamorous as the Wynn, Cosmo, etc, but the location is perfect and it serves it's purpose as giving you a place to shower and sleep. Mirage is also nice and reasonably priced.

As far as stuff to do during the day goes, pool parties. Rehab at the Hard Rock was fun (trashy as frick, but still fun). EBC at the Wynn is also a good time, so is Wet Republic at the MGM Grand. Nightlife wise, anything at the Wynn is on point. Tryst, Surrender, XS. Hakkasan is legit, so is Drai's.

Would highly recommend opening up your wallet a little bit more to get the best experience.

try to see if any conventions are going on at that time.i went for mine the first week of september a couple years ago and through a mining convention promo code we got rooms at the winn for like 95.00 a night on the weekends and treasure island for around 85.00

you can always get too drunk at the pool and walk into a wall before going out so they wont let you go(saved $$ that night)

Don't listen to all the big ballers here. I go to Vegas all the time. Once did two nights for under 200 total including the room. Last trip it was $5k for 5 nights, but I also had a 2,000 square foot suite and gambled my dick off, did the rhino, clubs etc.

The time I went cheap I did the following. Booked 2 nights at Ballys which is center strip. Think it was about $50 per night. Bought a bottle of Jack and some mixers at the ABC store by planet Hollywood, like 30 bucks. Drank a bunch cruising the strip and casinos until going to Hakkensan about 11pm. Paid a 20-40 cover (don't remember exactly how much). Was well buzzed when I went in and feeling good. Had a couple of drinkswhile there. Danced with an Asian chick I met for a while and got her number. Went back by the room after a few hours, got another drink and went to Cosmo where I met the Asian chick. Back to room and handled business with her a bit later.

Ordered papajohns the next day, that was my meal, went out the next night, same basic routine except did Tao. Spent about 40 bucks again and had fun.

You buy liquor at ABC store, don't gamble, only go to 1-2 clubs and casino hop at night, order a pizza for 15 bucks which is plenty of food for a full day, etc.

I've balled out in Vegas for $3-$6k many times. I've also had nights out where I spent less than $100 bucks gone to the best club that night and gotten laid. Lots of ways to do Vegas.

And also I never do bottle service. Ive usually had plenty to drink by the time I get to a club at midnight and 2-3 drinks for 30 bucks total is plenty at that point.

Oh yeah, pool parties during the day. Surrender and Wet Republic are my favorites. About 20-30 to get in, great music women and entertainment all day. I do pool parties pretty much every Fri, Sat, Sun when I'm there in the summers. Sometimes I'll drink 7-8 drinks at one for about 100 bucks, sometimes I'll just chill and recover from the night before while enjoying the environment.

So many fun ways to do Vegas. I've had more fun on days and nights that cost me 50-100 bucks at times and sometimes more on expensive nights.

If 1k is your budget not including airfare & lodging, you can have a hell of a time with that. Just budget about $200 for Rhino, bottle service can be done (maybe not at XS or hakkasan) for about $300 a person, and just make the rest ($500) last. Just like others have said, bring flasks, eat cheap, avoid cabs if possible. All that stuff can eat you up quick.

Edit: we stayed at planet hollywood and went to the pool there friday. It doesnt have a cover charge and is way more laid back than the dayclubs. It was still full of hot women tho and drinks were cheaper (like $5 16oz beer). Just get there early to get pool chairs.

Also, whatever you do, don't book a red eye flight leaving Vegas. You'll be hating life if you do..at least I was

I've done a red eye twice getting in at 6am and gone straight from airport to office for a full day.

Holy hell that sucked.
