Anyone have any experiences with this type of internet source. I hear it cant support a VPN. Cable and other traditional providers are not available in my area currently. looking at my options.

The problem with Satellite Internet is high latency because the signal has to go to the satellite and back to talk to the Internet. Each image on a web page requires a separate request to the server, so a site with lots of images, even a relatively lightweight site like TD will seem pretty slow. I don't know how much better the newer versions/dishes are, but it's a basic physics problem that will be hard to overcome and as of 4 years ago technology it felt like dialup.

So slow and they cut you to almost nothing if you use too much each day

We use satellite on our boats for communication and depending on the location, we get latency from ~650ms up to 5s when talking to a server on the boat. In a static location, expect around ~750ms latency most of the time (except peak hours) with something like hughes gen4 satellite. The bandwidth speed is around 10-15mbps down but you are limited to like 50GB or so before you get charged extra. And all of this is for like $70 a month. It's great if you have no other option, but if you do, skip this shite.

Thanks. That is what my research has been telling me as well.

I grew up in a rural area where all we could get was satellite internet.
It sucks arse, you don't want it.
I couldnt even connect to PSN or XBL.....oh, and there's the daily data caps...
