In the past i have ruled out watching British tv/movies, for no particulary reason other than I was close minded. Recently I watched The Honorable Woman though, and it was fantastic. Since then I just finished season 1 of Broadchurch, and it was great also. It seems like a whole new world of shows have opened up to me now. Next on my list is The Fall, and then I will check out Happy Valley and Top of the Lake.

Only problem is the tiny number of episodes and the long wait between seasons.

They have plenty of crap too. We just get access to the good stuff.

I used to love Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served, and Red Dwarf on PBS. I imagine Red Dwarf has probably not held up well but I could rewatch the other two.

Yep

Bad Education was hysterical. Utopia is some of the best TV I have ever seen. Finally, Death in Paradise is pretty good, especially the earlier seasons with Ben Miller. Also, Sara Martins just does it for me. The woman is just fine plus she has a french accent.

Happy Valley is awesome. Top of the Lake was good, too, but Happy Valley was better. The Fall is also very good.

Note the other thread about BBC shows leaving Netflix 2/1. Doesn't apply to any of the shows listed, I don't think. Netflix isn't hiding it. It will say "Until 2/1."

Anyway, point being, if you are on a BBC kick, might want to check out which shows are leaving Netflix. Wallander (Kenneth Branagh) is leaving, and I liked that one.

there is no limit I can give to how much I think The Missing is the best thing to come out in the last year

I just finished season 1 of The Fall, pretty damn impressed, look forward to season 2 to be released on Netflix this Friday

The thing I like about British TV, is the good shows, are really, really, really good

US - something like The Wire only comes out every so often

I remember enjoying it on PBS back in the day and tried rewatching it and it was not good.

Is anyone else confused by this?
So...they are leaving netflix or not?

BBC shows is the only reason I have netflix now.
Their new releases are horrible.

Some are leaving Netflix 2/1 and some are not. It looks like maybe the ones unique to BBC are leaving, but ones that are on BBC One or BBC Two (whatever those even are) or were picked up by another network (e.g. Sundance Channel) or are presented as "Netflix Original" are staying.

If you want to find out if a particular show is leaving Netflix, go to that show's page on Netflix and check the streaming details. If you see "Availability Until 2/1/2015," it will be gone at the end of this month (e.g. Doctor Who). Alternatively, if the show is in your queue, open your queue, and if you see "Until 2/1" in red, it is leaving at the end of this month. If you don't see either of those things, it will still be available on Netflix beyond this month.

There is no real mystery here. Go to Netflix and check. It might even be as easy as going to Netflix's British TV subgenre page. None of the shows listed there appear to be leaving, and ones that are leaving are conspicuously absent.
