The "DECLINE" is real. But why?

I tend to side with facts and numbers, as at least numbers NEVER lie. The decline since the NC game has become so apparent, can we at least acknowledge it exists?
It may be easier if someone can please point out where our program has improved under Les since then?
We're sitting today finishing 8-5 (with a bowl loss to unranked ND) on the season ranked #31 in the country. Next years poll was just released, and they rank us at #19 to begin the season.
We've lost our top ranked IN STATE recruits 2 of the last 3 years. We are being out recruited again this year as it doesn't appear we will finish even in the top 10 without a huge late haul.
I'm sorry for those who can't face organizational facts, but in business, like in sports or any other organization, success or failure always starts at the top. The program IS on the decline, and in quite dramatic fashion over the last few years. And it's happened on Les's watch. I'm not a Les hater. But, everything Les is doing to lead this program isn't, and hasn't been moving it in the right direction, and that's putting it nicely.
Lesser organizations have fired coaches for stronger performances than Les has had. Case in point, Polini at Nebraska just went 9-3 and was fired even before the post season. You don't think that cost Neb some money? Of course it did! But they realized they had to go in a different direction, at whatever cost, to begin to get to where they wanted to go.
Do great coaches really make huge difference? Insert Urban into an Ohio State program which was majorly on the decline, reeling from scandal, on probation, and down talent wise from several years of this decline not being addressed. The year he takes over, they go unbeaten and can't even participate in the post season because of the probation. Two seasons later he brings a NC to Ohio State?, a non SEC team that plays in the the Big 10 all year, beats Bama and rolls over Oregon for another NC!
I know because of the bad decisions of the administration to continue to extend Les's contract we're stuck for at least several more years. We REALLY needed this Michigan thing to open up, as that was our only out with Les. But it didn't, and we are we are.
It is paramount that this organization hires (not good, but) great assistants/coordinators to help offset the deficit we have at head coach. put pressure on the staff to recruit at much higher level, and hold the recruiting staff accountable for the results. We must find a way to put pressure on, or influence Les when he is stubbornly sticking to what is not working with outdated strategies, and with QB's (for example) who are not getting the job done, while far superior talent is left on the bench.
We need Les to evolve as a head coach by letting his staff do their jobs. Just let them do what works by letting them coach, and holding them accountable. If Les were to do this, he could just stand on the sidelines (eating grass), and collect wins by just leading his organization the right way:
Create a vision for his team, lead by motivating his leaders and empowering them to do their jobs and holding them accountable. In the process he would gain respect again and would be able to finish his legacy strong, as opposed to where it is heading at this point.
Very sorry this was so long, but this situation continues to be so hard to watch.

If they'd just get rid of Javi all would be well.

Every team goes through it but the ascend is imminent.

So much fail. Don't know where to start...

Then who is coaching? Les? If this is so. He's one of the best in the business considering we are the n the top 5 in wins over the last 10 years.
And you want to get rid of that guy?

It's a cyclical sport, nothing stays the way it is for very long.
THE BIG TEN IS A JOKE THE SEC IS THE BEST EVER - the perception up until about a month ago.
Give it time, things change fast in this business.

I'm not reading that. Not because it's too long, but because I'm tired of the incessant whining about the program.

And they hired pelini because they fired a more successful coach before that.
They fired peliniwe because they are delusional, like most of our fans, and pelini made an arse out of himself numerous times and challenged the administration.

Happens to everyone
Florida won those titles with Tebow and they have declined as well. But like LSU they are in a very fertile recruiting state and have a program in place that will vault both programs back to the top

and they were ridiculed by the media for doing so. and his record wasn't the reason he was fired.

Very well stated and thorough. We are on the decline....that is a fact.
It seems like LSU football has to drop into insignificance in order to get anyone's attention.
Les Miles will never change...he is that bullheaded.

The B1G is in a coaching arms race, Pellini wasn't going to compete with Meyer or Harbaugh.

Just be honest with this question: Are we sitting where we're sitting today with Saban, Urban, Patterson at the helm? Really think about that honestly and get back to me. Is LSU not good enough for those coaches, or do we only deserve a coach like Les?

1. just to make sure you understand including this year, we got the #1 player in LA 3 out of the last three years.
Tyron Johnson
Leonard Fournette
Tre'davious White
2. We definitely had a down year, but saying we are declining program means we are only going in one direction. Are we as good as 2011? no, but that was also a special year.
3. We had a bad year, but that doesn't make us a declining program. We still have a done of talent, and there is so much flux in players in college that you aren't a decline program until you can't get the players to make your team great.

You don't know that it wont...just like you do not know with any certainty how we would fare under a different coach. ...only speculation at this point.
