Tucker has had a terrible run in Chicago as the Bears DC the last two years. The defensive drop-off from the Lovie Smith era to now is obvious and fans there are happy for him to go. Seems like we could do better.

Any DC in the NFL would be a very good hire.

You people are crazy.

But he had the Jacksonville Jaguars in the top 10 when he was calling plays.

The Jacksonville Jaguars.

I cannot name 1 defensive player on their team.

not 1

To be fair that defense was on a downturn no matter what they have had aging players retiring and getting hurt

He does seem to be promoted every where he's been besides the Bears and the Jags defense got much better once he started calling the plays.

However, he has never had a top ranked scoring defense I don't believe.

Do not want either, but would not freak out if it was him.

He was in Jacksonville for 4 years and had one good defense. One.

The notion that he was awesome in Jacksonville is a myth.

Add to it that he was bad in Cleveland and an abomination in Chicago.

Also those are the yds/game numbers.

His scoring defense is slightly better than that:

16
24
27
11
29
30
31 (Bears awful unit talent-wise)

yeah i'm not trying to pump up the guy but the bears couldn't run man D and their zones got cut up eventually

the bears' secondary was terrible in terms of athleticism/coverage talent

I agree that the talent he has to work with must be taken into consideration.

Still, he has a fair body of work as a DC now and, IMO, it is quite unimpressive.

But who knows for sure. College is a different game.

He never coached a team with superior talent.

I'm not saying he's awesome, but if he's good enough to have middle of the road defenses in the NFL, I'm sure he'd do just fine at LSU.

I would rather 5 other guys though.

Haven't they drafted poorly up there on D though?
