Only downside to the SV is they usually won't shoot one ounce loads very reliably.

Because the manual tells you to limit it to 1 1/8th oz just like Beretta a400 and Browning Maxus do.

all the inertia-driven guns are this way.
i've still got, and use almost exclusively, my '97 SB (HK model).

Just get a SBEII and be done with it. Avoid the camo as it wears off quickly. Black is where it's at. (Insert 3rd penis joke)

So are 3.5 inch gas guns.

5 seasons of hunting and my max 4 camo looks brand new.
ETA: and I rarely have it in a case

How many hunts a season? I've had mine about 4 years and it's wearing badly where you grasp it with your trigger hand.
I go nearly every weekend, slip off every once in a while during the week, and hunt them hard during Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years break.
It's nothing a sharpie can't fix because the operation is flawless.

Also, I have a mossy oak duck blind SBEII, so it may be a different dip from another company that is wearing more rapidly.

That's about the same amount of hunts. It must be the different patterns.

I was thinking of getting a black model having it dipped locally.
Been hunting with an M2 for years but now wanting something with a better swing.
Thanks for the replies.

If you want 3 inch then go with the silver mallard - you can find them online for less than 800 and in great shape....some much less if you want to do some work in them.
Possibly one of the best duck guns - ever.

I handled a SV and V today at Cabela's. I normally don't like 3 1/2" guns but in this case the longer gun is more balanced.
Super Vinci it is.

My buddy's silver mallard is a huge POS

Not all of them, but a majority are.
The ethos, supersport, Córdoba, etc. lines aren't.

I shot a 3.5 inch versa max that did quite well with 1 oz. loads. I don't know what the manual recommends, but it seemed to have plenty of bolt speed with the lighter loads.

Gotta get that Gold Mallard

I have the Super Vinci with 28'' barrel and love it. Lightweight, low recoil, and east to clean. Im a bad shot and haven't missed many ducks since buying it. Yes, its expensive, but your kids will be able to shoot this gun one day. Downside is I don't think they hold value as well as other models. So once you buy it don't plan to resell.
That being said, its all personal preference. I know avid hunters who will argue all day between Binelli, Beretta, Browning, and even Remington's. Would be nice if they were like cars and you could test drive. My brother shoots the Browning Versamax. Ive shot skeet with it and really liked it as well.
If you're going to have a 12ga, you need to be able to shoot 3.5'' shells. Otherwise you limit yourself to Duck hunting and will need another gun to Goose hunt. If you think they are too bulky then you are just a vagina.
