Reloaders: Beam or Electronic Scale?

What you got?

RCBS Chargemaster for the win. If I had to use a beam scale Id quit reloading. Easily my most hated task for reloading, is dropping powder.
Id love to get a Prometheus, except Im not taking out a loan for one and not sure they even make them anymore.

I find a beam to be more accurate but digital is so much faster
I have a Neil Jones powder measure (similar to a Harrell's) and will initially check the first 2-3 throws with my Ohaus beam scale. Once measure is set, I never check it again because it's that precise
I can throw 50 charges, and every one will measure 18.5 grs on N130
Prometheus is the real deal and best of both worlds if you have the coin
A good scale is important but IMO, a quality powder measure is irreplaceable

The first thing you need to do is get something to reload with. Pliers and a hammer is not going to work.

Beam, but I had it already from my "job" in the '70's.

Are you loading in bulk? If so then it really doesn't matter.
I measure my load one time on a beam scale and then lock it down on my RCBS Uniflow. Once my charge weight is set, that's it. I'm not going for precision. I'm only going for speed and efficiency.

Yes. I'm getting set up to load handgun ammo. I'm getting a Dillon this week and recall from one I had previously, they hold pretty true on powder settings. Initial powder weight accuracy will be important and I will probably check weight ever 100 rounds. Consistency is more important than speed.

I think a Harrell's powder measure is going to be my Father's Day present this year.

Bought my Neil Jones used in 1995 and it throws powder just as accurate today as it did 20+ yrs ago
like other high quality precision machined products, buy it once and you're done for a lifetime
Harrel's powder measure is the cat's meow
