For you veteran cruisers I will be cruising on NCL out of Miami at the end of March. We (wife (no pics) and I) have booku points on Southwest so we will be flying into Fort Lauderdale a day early. Should we stay in Lauderdale or Miami? Is there a shuttle that will transport us to the port if we choose to stay in Lauderdale? Any suggestions on where to stay?

Lastly once we are done cruising we will be spending 3 days in Miami any suggestions on lodging and or activities? TIA

I'm not a cruiser but FLL is 45 minutes from Miami so I'd stay in Miami

Booku? Really?

3 days in Miami stay at Marriott Stanton on south beach. There's plenty to do.

Do you have enough booku points to get you in the Mile High Club?

I tend to fly into FLL and taxi it to mid beach when I go. The taxi ride is about $80 split with whoever I'm with. I still save on doing that rather than fly into Miami.

They have shuttles that go from the airport to either cruise dock. If you're flying into FLL, you can arrange a shuttle to the port of Miami. But you're staying at a hotel. I'd guess most hotels can arrange shuttles to either cruise ports. Just reserve a hotel that can accoomodate you. Where to stay? Any place should be fine. You could even look into South Beach places, you'll have plenty of time to get to the port the next day.

What to do in Miami? Look into an Everglades tour.

How are you going to smuggle your hooch? That's the real question.

I live down here and fly in and out of FLL all the time. I would suggest staying in Miami. Traffic can get pretty bad going to Miami. You can check with this company about a shuttle from FLL LINK

Do you know of anything like the supershuttle or whatever that ferries people to the port of Miami?

No, I don't. I would check out some cruising message boards. Just make sure you find the right "cruising".

there's probably a ton of grade A escorts/hookers in Miami.

Seriously though I'm on cruise critic.

The Hooters by the basketball stadium is one of our busiest. The GM is actually from Baton Rouge, if he still there. He bought me a few beers reminiscing over the Chimes. Yes, the escorts in Miami are top notch.

Depends on when your flight arrives to FL. If it arrive at night, just stay in FL and bus/shuttle into Miami in the morning. Honestly, I actually prefer FL to Miami anyway so I would certainly be in no rush to go there and spend more money for anything you want in FL.

While in Miami, Cocount Grove is cool, try Yuca one day for lunch or dinner. Clubs are stupid expensive but alot of the hotels have nice bars that arent as bad and not nearly the shite show the night clubs are.

We hit alot of the smaller and older hotels and walked around alot.

That is what I figured. My flight arrives around 3pm.

= Old People.

Went on a (Carnival) cruise a couple years ago. Looking at the age and condition of some of the passengers, there's no way several of them didn't die on the voyage. It was like a nursing home on a boat.
