Has anyone read the Fitzmorris book "Hungry Town"?

Thoughts? I bought back when wife and I decided to move to Louisiana several years ago, but never read. Just unearthed it, considering cracking it.

Figured the board would have an opinion as to if its worth my time.

I read it. It is actually a pretty good read. Has an account of the storm and the restaurant scene, with some recipes thrown in for good measure. Wouldn't be a waste of time to read.

It's a good read and a quick one. One word of warning about it is it's sort of more autobiography than straight book about New Orleans restaurants, but still worth checking out.

Highly recommend. Good book on Nola food. Good recount of life after the storm. Good book you can start and finish on a lazy weekend.

BUMP

I read it and it's absolutely fantastic. I didn't grow up here, and I have no history for or against Tom, though. It was a great history of the rise of food in New Orleans, how Katrina affected the restaurant scene, and how things have recovered (and flourished) since the storm. Its littered throughout with anecdotes about how Tom got into this line of work, and how he became so popular. I thought he was fairly humble in decribing his career.

Its very well written, an easy read, and put a lot of puzzle pieces together for me about the New Orleans food scene. I strongly recommend it.

Carry on
