Almost like I was watching prequel to The Big Lebowski. What an awesome flick.

I really wanted to love the movie. The setting was great. The score was perfect for the film. It has just enough humor, and the acting was great, especially Phoenix. The movie just fell apart in the third act. The plot got all muddled, and kind of fell apart. I expect a lot more out of PTA. Good film, but far from great.

Just got out of it. Wish I had the time to immediately watch it again.

I haven't seen it but I can see how that movie can give that vibe.

I've rewatched it. It gets better upon subsequent viewings, just like The Big Lebowski.

I found it extremely lazy and incredibly boring from start to finish and I love PTA.

The Big Lebowski is a masterpiece, IMO Inherent Vice is an incoherent mess and the cameos are totally wasted opportunities.

A lot of laughs are very subtle. You kind of have to pay close attention to catch the nuances the script and actors give to the development of the plot to catch what's actually going on and the between the lines humor. I guess it isn't for everyone. But everything is subjective, especially entertainment.

Please, don't even put those 2 in the same sentence.

What kind of drug induced haze was Paul Thomas in when he made this film?

Walked out after about 2/3 of the movie.

Thought it was awful, and I love Lebowski. I still can't tell you what this movie was about. It was long and boring and made little sense. There were some good subtle laughs but that was the only redeeming quality.

This was my take as well.

I'm surprised PTA was able to cobble that cast together with that script. It felt the cameos were forced and added nothing to the movie.

Movie was a disappointment.

Not to split hairs but I don't feel any role would fit the category of a cameo.

I'm an hour into it and have no fricking clue what is going on. I feel like I'm watching the 8th episode of a TV show I've never seen.
