"I don't think it's actually right for Discovery Channel. And it's [a type of programming] that I think in some ways has run its course. ... They've done very well, many of them, but it's not something that's right for us … if something [has been previously ordered], it's probably still coming. But I'm telling you where I am and how I feel moving forward."

But how will I learn about human-eating snakes and about how megaladon could still be lurking our oceans?

I'll believe it when I see it. But it's encouraging.

Does that include obviously scripted "reality shows"?

Ross explained patiently he’d made a very strong statement this morning as to the direction in which he’s taking Discovery Channel, naming HBO veteran John Hoffman as Executive Vice President of Documentaries and Specials. “This was not just a signal, it was a message that it’s very important to us, and to me, that when people are telling stories and they’re delivering information that it is true and can be entertaining as well, which is mandatory.”

I think he's pushing torward more fact based documentaries and shows. No more "docufiction" stuff.

Wish the guy who runs the Pawn Star marathon channel would get back to history shows.

There's hardly anything about animals on Animal Planet anymore. Since when are treehouses animals?

I actually kinda like that show. I just find it odd that it's on AP. Seems like more of an HGTV type show.
