Should african players get paid a lot less by their clubs because of this tournament? It takes them away from their club every 2 years plus significantly increases the risk of injury and fatigue in the 2nd half of the season.

What's the reasoning for why this tournament is in the middle of the season, unlike all of the other summer ones?

I mean the gold cup happens every two years during the MLS season and other leagues also

I don't understand why all leagues don't follow the Aug-April or May. I guess it has something to do with when the winter/summer is above/below the equators, other than that I can't think of any reason why a league would run in the summer. I guess the MLS does it so it doesn't compete with football...

To expand, outside of Denmark, Scandinavia plays through the summer

Russia plays August-May, but they have an insane winter break

Not like it's a secret nor would it be fair for the player

I heard a long time ago (I think from Fox Football Phone in) that a lot of the African leaders like the time it's at so Europeans see how important African players are to their teams.
Could be nothing, could be something, but I think its a pretty interesting take considering some of the racism that plagues European soccer fans.

This seems unlikely.

It's because of the differences in seasons right? Every 2 years is overkill though.

Are the Gold Cup and ACON the only 2 major international tournaments held every 2 years?
