Car & Driver sure seems to think so and they have gathered some interesting spy shots. LINK

Behold, mid-engine Corvette fans: The car you’ve waited patiently for Chevrolet to build has finally evolved beyond titillating concepts to the engineering mule revealed here. An 82-second strike by our recon op resulted in 15 frames before security narcs dropped the curtain on this black test car—with its two occupants still inside.

It would be a Corvette in name only. Kind of like the new GTO. Seems like the kind of boneheaded decision GM would make.

Holden. GM's brand in Australia. The car looks like be a combo of Holden Maloo and Chevy Corvette.

It's a Holden UTE with a Corvette greenhouse up top. GM owns Holden and does a lot of winter testing down under using Holden cars and sheet metal as testing mules. No telling what is under the sheet metal. Corvette roof could either be telling or something to really throw everyone off.

It's like they're admitting that the Europeans win.

GM needs to bring back the TransAm, retro look.

ETA: But I guess they'd have to do it under the Chevy brand, which would be weird.

This guy sees it too.

It's time for a comeback

Australia gets them. Make nice light-duty work trucks, imo.

Which is just silly. The C6 Vette has two of the fastest production car lap times around the Nurburgring. For the money, it does what supercars can't. Switching to mid engine would be a huge mistake IMO.

They recently launched the Chevy Colorado. So I don't know where this would fit in the market.
