He's inflating his worth atm with all his goals scored this year... surprised at this production actually.

Scored 8 goals in all competitions last year, 17 the year before, 16 the year before that. He did have a dip, but he played in a far deeper role for Chelsea last year than in years past.

It's not surprising in the least.

I mean, something had to have been in place, right? They were plastering him with a NYCFC logo all over the world.

Those are fan pics. He's just a big fan of the club.

He wants to be sure everyone knows he followed the team before they won anything so he can't be called a bandwagoner.

"We need to work hard now to move forward and recognise that Frank will be joining this team in July," Garber said.

New York City director of football Claudio Reyna said on Dec. 31 that Lampard would cross the Atlantic to join them, stating: "He is eager to get to New York once his commitment ends in England and will be available to play on arrival as a permanent member of the squad given he will come to us having played at the highest level."

Sounds like Garber and the great Reyna are towing the company line....the MLS company line that is.

ETA

This is kind of strange thinking about it. Sheikh pays all parties involved basically. So I'd imagine Frank will go where he wants him to go...which I'd guess right now would be City (the England one). However, it does seem like Reyna and Garber legit think Frank will end up in NYC. However, as a casual fan looking in it appears it will be a cold day in hell when Frank gets to NYC. This is crazy.

TalkSPORT Radio is reporting that Lampard’s agent, Steve Kutner, revealed that the midfielder has signed a contract with New York City FC. As a result, Lampard will be a NYC FC player as of July 1 and will not return to Manchester City next season.

“Frank will not be at Manchester City next season,” the report said, citing Kutner. “He will go to America on July 1 and will then be a player for New York City.”

Apparently Lampard's agent doesn't realize that he doesn't actually sign a contract with the club, but with MLS. Can't wait for this shitshow to hit groundhog day levels of hilarity.

Seems alot of people over here don't understand that as well. Just look at reddit

or skysports comments.

I want to make it completely clear about my situation as I have read a lot of lies and nonsense over the last few days. When released from Chelsea last year at the end of my contract I signed a commitment to play in NYCFC for two years starting January 1st 2015. I was then offered the chance to train and be part of the Man City squad in the interim to keep myself in the best shape going into New York. This period has since been extended by Man City and I now will start playing for NYCFC at the end of this current Premier League season. There has always been a constant dialogue between all parties in this time to find the best solution for everyone. I can say that I am very excited about arriving in New York and giving everything to the team to make us a success in the MLS as soon as possible. Thanks everyone for your ongoing support and I wish everyone a healthy and happy 2015!
