Question about Macbook to TV quality using TB/HDMI

I've never had a need to wire my MacBook to my TV until now. I've come across a shady website for movies that doesn't work on iPad but works great on my Air. I've never liked the quality for movies/TV when Airplayed/Mirrored from my Air. Always a little jumpy and grainy.
Question is has anyone here used a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter for running media from a MacBook straight to a TV and if so how is the quality?
