I just finished season one on Netflix and enjoyed it.

What were your thoughts?

I enjoyed it, but have trouble telling the women apart.

agreed! there's some attractive Asian women on that show. It's good to be a Khan.

Halfway through binging it now, and I quite frankly don't get the hate from the critics. I've thoroughly enjoyed the story and how much they leave open for interpretation. The discussions between any 2 of the 3 bad asses (Khan, Hundred Eyes, and Polo) are very interesting. I almost liken the tone of the series to Dune 4-6. Less "story and action" more "why".

I enjoyed it. The nude Asian women were a bonus. The blind guy is bad arse.

Season 1 was amazing. I went in expecting a glorified shiteshow and came out craving the next season. The character evolution and how you felt about them over only 10 episodes was pretty awesome (minus the one constant badass). Once again, critics can suck a D.

So I'm on episode 5 and I have two gripes. The first is that mostly everyone is speaking with American or British accents, not Asian. The second thing is I don't understand why they couldn't hire all chinese actors to make it closer to an authenic representation. I mean Khan's son looks half american/asian. The minister of finance looks like he's Arabian. The dude protecting the blue princess has got to be polynesian or indian...where's the chinese people?

I believe the minister is supposed to be from a region outside of the khan dynasty area. He was taken during war very young...if I remember correctly. I think yes they could have done more with authenticity, but they did do a better job than most typical shows like this.

He is. Mongols only massacred MOST of the people in cities they sacked. They spared those they deemed to have useful skills and brought them into the empire.

Once, Genghis Khan was shot in the neck with an arrow during an invasion. After the battle, they rounded up the captured soldiers and found out who shot him. That man, Jebe, was made into a general in the Mongol army and later became known as one of the best generals of all time.

Unless you think that the show should have been subtitled with all characters speaking all original languages, I don't see what big difference this makes. Speaking modern English with asian accents wouldn't have been accurate either. It's just a necessary suspension of disbelief that streamlines the show so that they don't have to spend too much time on the language difficulties.
