How involved is fantasy baseball?

Ive never played because I thought it would be too much, but I'm thinking about trying it this year.

I didn't like fantasy basketball because you had to set a lineup everyday. I know you could do it in advance, but it was almost like whoever picked up and dropped the most players would always win because their guys had more games played.

Does baseball work the same way?

If you don't like fantasy basketball, you more than likely won't like baseball. It works the same way. My only suggestion would be to play in weekly leagues if you decide to give it a try. If not, you'll wind up quitting and pissing people off.

most involved fantasy sport there is.

- closer monitoring
- tracking farm systems
- 20+ active roster spots make injuries more prevalent
- daily lineups vs. weekly lineups is the only thing that would decrease your involvement.

I don't watch any basketball, but I am a huge baseball fan so that might have had something to do with it. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

This guy would probably play in a 10-12 team league with a small buy in, if any. I doubt it would be that serious

What you said definitely holds true for the serious, larger, keeper leagues

Probably not necessary in a normal redraft outside of the truly top prospects. I highly doubt he has to run to the waiver wire if Burch Smith is promoted.

It is my favorite fantasy sport, and I think you would like it if you are a baseball fan. I hate weekly leagues in baseball, but that is an easy way to minimize time and involvement and stay play.

Probably true in non-hypercompetitive leagues so I get y'alls point.

but I think in any league, success is still reflective of how active you are on the waiver wire. He probably won't have to stay up/wake up in the morning hours like some of us do to get that guy, but I still recommend reading fangraphs, rotoworld, and setting up your twitter accordingly to be on top the news and stats.

Put a games played cap on it. Problem solved.

The biggest thing with baseball is that the season simply lasts forever, 25 weeks compared to the 14 in football. Thus it is a lot easier to lose interest.

That was more a joke because Earl wanted him a year or two ago in SBL and he was not in the player pool. I think he had a handful of starts with the Padres, but he has done anything yet and I doubt he will. I can almost guarantee I will not roster him this year.

Baseball is way more involved, but it is also my favorite fantasy sport by far.

If you have to ask then you probably won't like it

You can play in leagues that have weekly lineups, but they will be a joke, unless its NL or AL only.

Just try out daily fantasy baseball and play when you feel like it.

Play for a few weeks, take a break, then play again.

I sound like a commercial lol.

I plan on playing for the first time this year. Just don't know how to find a good league.

I think it definitely makes injuries less of a factor. 1 injury in football and your season could be ruined. In baseball your best player could go down for the season and you could absorb it. The thing I like about fantasy baseball is that the most persistent and diligent owner in the league has a great chance of winning.

You can set a week in advance, however, you want to check everyday due to players sitting out, slumping, etc

Fantasy baseball is all about commitment. I played with a guy who picked up Trout and Puig off waivers in consecutive years. Dude probably spent 2 hours a day on fantasy baseball. I went to a Matthew Berry book signing, and this guy asked me to get him a signed book. I got Matthew Berry to write, "frick you for picking up Trout and Puig."

I'm going to.

I played fantasy baseball for a few years with the same people from the football league.

but it died on the vine eventually.

Daily leagues are the fricking shite.

can't wait to lose/win some money this year.
