Be in the box or on the sideline? Was that just a Chavis thing, being in the box above? I prefer a DC on the sidelines...

I wish that for both coordinators. At least it would look like we have someone coaching on the sidelines. Or at least someone to explain to Les what is going on in the game. I don't know how many times I've seen Miles mouth "What happened?" after a play.

why?

they get a better view of the opposing defense/offense from the box

leave the emotion and chest bumping to the position coaches

True. Some coaches like to be on the field. Some prefer the advantages of being in the box. Both have pros and cons

From a strictly Xs and Os standpoint its better for them to be in the box.

This makes sense, but some coaches want to be able to look their players in the eyes. To me it works better when the head coach is the facilitator or even the innovator in the scheme a la Saban (defense), Meyer, Mullen, Kelly, Sumlin, Malzahn, Helfrich etc.

LSU DCs always do better from the sideline.

Hopefully both the DC and OC will be on the sidelines and much more involved. A man can hope!

Jesus, ever thought that he's asking the booth for a breakdown of the play from their angle?

Have you ever been on the sideline for a LSU game? Do you understand how fast a play happens?

Someone from the field can't see the entire field and breakdown of the play at live speed. You need distance and height for that

Well, that solves it. This must be what is prolonging the hire. Thought: let the DC determine where HE FEELS most comfortable and most effective.
