IMO they dropped the ball big time on the exile shite

Instead of doing 5-6 minute web clips per week that no one watches, why not wait until all 9 or whatever teams are eliminated and do a multi-day exhale elimination and turn that into a web series

Treat it like the NFL playoffs. Once the final 3 is set, take a week off and have the eliminated teams battle it out for a fourth spot in the final instead of just having one team vs. one team each week squeezing sweat off them

Well he posted after it was put up online. If you don't watch the episodes and come to the thread, you will have things spoiled. Don't see why the same doesn't hold true for those exile clips.

I just figured someone would have posted a link to it for those that didn't know it was online yet.

And pay for that production? No way.

Other elimination shows have already done this method, so clearly there's a functioning blueprint MTV stole.

This is what I thought they were doing anyway...I figured it would be some sort of thing where it would be this big tournament-style competition to see who makes it back in the house. I didn't realize it would air every week on their site.

And if they were smart, they'd put it on TV anyway. I have a feeling that not many people will give enough of a frick to check it out online.

it looks to me like it adds about a cost of $0 to make. they all have to be there anyways. looks like they are just putting the teams in exile in a house with production and giving them challenges that cost nothing.

makes sense to me that they are sticking them online. here's a little bit of extra content for some fan engagement. it is getting activity on mtv.com and on facebook from what i can tell. that's better than nothing. they dont need to put them on tv. that adds absolutely nothing.

smart play IMO.

Was it ever stated why they put this on so damn late? The wife and I always have to watch the next day, and I cannot imagine that we are alone in this.

This has to be one of MTV's highest rated shows right?

It wasn't supposed to air until TRW ended in late March or early April. I guess they rushed it because of Diem dying.

Right, but for example, I didn't even know it was online yet.

Like I said, it doesn't bother me too much anyway as I don't really care about the Exile stuff and likely won't watch it anyway (barring something watch-worthy happening).

How? They talk about it being online at the end of every episode.

I knew it was taking place online...I thought it was a tournament-style thing where the losers would compete together. I didn't realize it was am episode to episode thing.

Also, it must be pretty sweet to be in exile. No, you aren't on the show, but I assume the restrictions are more lenient if you're out of the main cast. Plus, you're still on an extended paid-for vacation in an awesome place.

In some of the videos they post online of them in the exile house, they show them having access to TV and such. There is also random people in the background that I want to know who they are.

Right. I mean, I imagine the crew is pretty fun to hang with. shite, Susie married someone from one of her crews.

I bet the people in the back are the crew who aren't filming at the moment and producers. Possibly friends of TJ who are visiting for a while. Sounds like the couple who wins exile stays with the crew, which is interesting since Dustin and the Seasons crew did not get along.

At this point everything is going according to plan. All if the power teams are in, and I bet we see the other two rookie teams sent in unless another good team gets last place. Then, Wes or Johnny Bananas could make a big play and send their rival in.

Either way, Zach and Reilly gave to love their positions at the moment since they have no enemies.

Well that episode played out very predictably.

The black competitors sucked at swimming, shocker.

Two rookie teams got sent in, shocker.

We already knew about the Diem situation. Very sad.

I see a few more predictable weeks ahead unless one of the veteran power teams loses and/or one of the rookie teams wins.

Sadly I think this is on the decline.

Murray said in a recent AMA on Reddit that MTV will likely stick with these themed shows like Real World and that it seems unlikely they'll ever go back to stuff like The Duel, Inferno, Gauntlet, etc

IMO they need another Fresh Meat because these 'vets' that keep coming back are awful. At this point, the chances of actual vets like Kenny, Evan, Brad, Veronica, Landon, etc coming back are slim to none

I've been saying this for years though and nothing has changed

That would be a good idea.

Don't know if anyone here watches Big Brother, but the scenario above is the same. They kept bringing "favorites" back and people complained, wanted a new cast, etc. Well, some of the new seasons were just duds. One or two was alright, but for the most part they sucked. Be careful what you ask for.

With a Fresh Meat season, at least it would only be half new people, and half veterans.

Yup. They tried to bring in "Are you the One" people and that failed miserably because John might be one of the worst excuses for a man I have ever seen. We want more meatheads losing their shite like in the good ole days with kenny, young CT, insane Wes, and the like.

That elimination last night was absolutely pathetic and a waste of time

It's a real shame they couldn't get Ronnie and Sammi to do the Battle of the Exes.

There were a couple of meatheads on Season 2 of "Are you the One" that could potentially add to the show. I don't mind them using it as another feeder show, since there is no more Road Rules, and Real World has been pretty pathetic as well.

Teen Mom is still MTV's highest rated show. Time to bring some of them in. Jwow and Roger might be ok too but Roger is in his 40s so he kinda old for this. Maybe Max and that other dude from Catfish but they'd probably suck.
