Everyone is focusing on the DC and DL coaching positions and wanting to get Coach O on our staff, but not necessarily Brick as the DC. I'm not sure that O would work for Brick anyway since he has been a head coach. Let's look at the rest of our staff for some low hanging fruit. Could the TE coach position (Ensminger) be eliminated and TE coaching rolled under either the OL coach or the receivers coach? This would free up a spot to hire O as the DL coach, Brick coaches the LBs, and we can still hire a DC. To me, that would be a very strong staff. Why do the TE have their own coach anyway, with the way we use our TEs. They are typically used as OL in our current scheme of offense, but could be moved under the Receivers coach if that scheme changes. What do you think?

Brick won't move positions unless he gets a better title. It's a slap in his face

Not a slap in Brick's face. Lateral move. It's what's best for the team. If he won't be a team player, then he can move on. What is he going to do if he is not offered the D.C. job? Will that be a slap in his face also? The real question is can we restructure the staff to eliminate the TE coaching position? The way we use our TE, they are just an extension of the OL anyway. If we change our offensive philosophy to use TE as a receiver, there is an opportunity to move them under the receiver coach if that makes sense.

Sorry your OP hasn't gained traction. I think your ideas have merit. But "out of the box" thinking here on the Rant is very rare. Thus the same repeatedly repeated names as "possible" Chavis, Cam, CLM replacements. And thus the cheap shots and profanity directed at any here who might step from the approved and well-worn path.

My comment is strictly opinion. But seeing as how he was already debating leaving, taking his position from him for a lateral move to bring in a better recruiter would probably frustrate him.

Ex- say you have held the same position and done well at it for years, you get passed up for someone else with more experience for a promotion and then get told you are moving to a different office because they want to bring in new blood. It seems frustrating to me.

If Brick is willing to do it we have O saying that he would take that job. As long as a an incoming DC would like an O, Brick, Raymond staff it sounds pretty damn good. Who the hell knows what is going on with this thing.

Why is he in a position to call the shots? His employer gives him a directive, he either does it or faces repercussions. Pretty clear to me, granted I'm not contract attorney

I think we need to eliminate the Special Teams coach and TE coach. Have Grimes or Henry coach the TE's and Les coach the Special Teams. Then hire a proven QB coach and a DC and have Brick coach LB's.

We could just go ahead and get rid of the TE position altogether and make room for 4 scholarship QB/DTs
