Poor kids will and should take the money when it is available. The economics bear it out. Since that isn't changing, how can we keep the self-centered fans from expecting kids to do something they would not?

Can we just stop them from being so goddamn stupid? That would be a tremendous benefit.

People are selfish in general. Why would football fans be any different?

No, you don't. That's why you made a sarcastic comment in response to me clowning on your ilk.

GTFO

Athletes leaving early is the #1 problem with college sports today; if you call yourself a college sports fan you should be all for a way to make them stay out their eligibility.

Nope, entitled fans that think college athletes owe them something is the #1 problem.

I am a sports fan. I am also a fan of COLLEGE. College is to prepare a student for their profession. If I could pass the PE and start practicing engineering after 3 years in school, the university should not try to limit my ability to earn a living.

Preparing kids for earning a living >>> winning a game that means nothing (ZERO) in the grand scheme of things.

I think the whole system needs to be overhauled. It can be set up like training that is paid for by the employer where you sign a contract to stay four years and get your degree. Give them the small stipend that is being discussed and provide them with an insurance policy that would pay out based on their draft grade in case of major career ending injuries. Not saying this exactly but something to this effect. Insurance would likely be an expensive bill but policies would likely be cheaper if it was that widespread.

so you want us not to speculate on kids whether or not they should stay or go but you are speculating on the fan base saying everybody would take the money...well this is hypocritical

Are all the kids that are leaving getting drafted, making a team, and making a living in the pros?

The elite, first or second round guys, is a no brainer. it's the chris faulks, tharold simons, anthony johnson's that are the issue. They are leaving without said degree, playing for less or not playing at all. However, if they did stay another year (collins for example) could be playing for a lot more.

I expect the first or second rounders to go. I do think J. Hill could have been a first rounder this year and be playing for double his salary next year. O.b. Jr is a no brainer. J. Collins, K. Alexander, Mills, Hunter, etc are guys that are likely to be drafted in 3rd to 6th rounds with potential to improve their money and draft stock.

This is pure assumption. Hell, they may lose draft position by staying. Nobody has any way of knowing. La'el Collins probably left around a million dollars on the table by coming back to LSU.

Because the people whining about it and bashing the players are a poor reflection on my Alma Mater.

Quoting a stupid statement only attributes stupidity to yourself, as well. I am a college sports fan, but I consider myself a good, altruistic person first and foremost. A person can be more than a brainless "college sports fan," you know.
