This might be the most outrageous addition by subtraction I've seen in a long time. They are only 3 games out of a playoff spot.

I'm hoping it works out for both teams. Smith was +32 with Houston last night. Led the team.

Most encouraging news of my sports day , but interested to see how things come along with SVG now that Josh Smith is gone. Really did not like his signing.

The dude is awful. I don't keep up with the NBA that much, so I don't know how the Rockets are since acquiring him. I wouldn't be shocked if he's outta there before seasons end.

Well, they lost to the Pelicans by 30 the other night.

They are playing really well, obviously...the subtraction of Smith has really allowed for players that can actually knock down shots and penetrate to space the floor and open up things for everyone.

I would also attribute a lot of this five game winning streak to Drummond playing some great basketball and Jodie Meeks being back from injury.

It's possible. Although it's obvious that some players are just much better as role players, it's strange how much their game can improve when in that role. He could very well be that type of player.

Yup. And the Rockets don't need any stars. We need role players.

4 of those 5 games were against the Magic, Pacers, Knicks, and Kings. Of the 5 games they had won prior to releasing Smtih two of them had come from the Knicks and Kings. So while I agree that they are better without Smith, they also just hit a cushy pocket of games.

If you are not impressed with who they are beating, you have to be impressed with how badly they are beating these teams.

This is the same team that lost to the lakers, minny, and philly, for crying out loud

I seriously don't understand why people can't see what the problem was in Detroit, and why he was so good with the Hawks, and now it seems with the Rockets.

JOSH SMITH IS A POWER FORWARD. Not a small forward.

I knew it was a dumbass move by the Pistons when they signed him to that big arse contract and then asked him to play out of position.

This has been discussed over and over again, but Josh Smith played a ton of power forward for the Pistons this year. When he was waived, he was the starting power forward. And he still stunk. Kyle Singler started at small forward.

EDIT -

Admittedly, I just saw his first game performance of 21 and figured he was doing better with the Rockets.

What was that +32 post earlier ITT about?

Pistons just beat Spurs on the road. Is everyone going to say the Spurs are a cupcake team?

Not to mention that Tony Parker returned from injury last night.

Great to see Detroit having a good stretch. I hope they can keep it going and keep getting better.

The NBA is better when the Pistons are in the hunt.

He's better than Tarik Black and at $2mil a year it was still probably a good move for the Rockets. But anger emanates from my body while watching Josh Smith be over-aggressive.
