Can someone please tell me what Blake meant about how Mary could ease the news in? I am as clueless as she was.
I thought he was saying that she should tell tony that she was choosing blake, and that it wasn't tony that was the problem
but I don't see how that would EASE the news
but yea, tony went from being the nicest little brit ever to a completely overbearing a-hole

just watched this episode last night. Looks like Tony and his valet have a lot in common. Both refuse to accept no for an answer.
and that teacher is just a trouble making bitch. i get that she disagrees with robert but, EVERY time she is in his house she provokes him. I'm not a rich "Lord" but i'd throw that bitch out and make sure she never came back into my house.
Neither of those stories are interesting and I don't care how Green died. I'm glad he's not around to drag that story out longer. I thought we were done with it. None of the story lines are very interesting except Mrs Crawley and the Dowager.

agreed.. it's just annoying how the cop just keeps popping back in with a question or 2.

Annoying as hell, considering the police are wasting more manpower and resources/time investigating a valet's accidental death in a crowd than they did Jack the Ripper.

Right now, the "first/head" footman thing is just silly, though.

Did anyone watch the 1-hour special that played after the episode?
Yeah, I caught part of it, and I found it interesting how detailed they are with every custom, within this class, etc., to that time period.
The fact that DA is a period piece is what I like about it, that window into another era, the classes, their mentalities, customs, traditions and knowing how historical accurate to every detail.
That's why I watch, that's the fun (especially since Matthew drove off a cliff).

Don't get me wrong - the show is still off the charts good, but I think Matthew and Sybil were both unforgettable. Did Julian Fellowes simply write them out intentionally, or did their acting ambitions intervene? If it was career moves, I wonder if either regrets it now. Sybil was hotter than a two-dollar pistol.

I believe they both wanted off the show to go in a different direction.
Matthew died several seasons ago. That's not a spoiler at this point.

Thus, the joke that flew over like lead balloon.

He played King Arthur or whatever, judging by the previews, for the latest Night at the Museum.
Yeah....great career choice there, Matthew.
And Sybil hasn't fared much better. Minor characters in B-movie thrillers.
