We should grab CP as defensive coordinator and Orgeron to Dline and just move Haley to linebackers.

SwampyLSU I am inclined to agree with you. Let Grimes and Henry handle the TEs. Venables would be my second choice. Please no Steele or Stoops.

Shoop has done ok I guess and would be favored by me over Steele or Stoops. I just don't know if he has enough experience at this level.

Why are some people saying just because Stoops got fired as a head coach means he is not a good DC. Remember Lane Kiffin? Well he seems to be doing very good as OC. Yea I know OU didn't do well on defense this year. They don't have half the talent LSU has either. To get a former Head Coach as a DC is huge. Some of you think he is terrible based on his defense this year. LSU has bigger problems. Ever took a look at our offense under Cam? I'm sure the defense under Stoops will not be the laughing stock of the SEC like our offense currently is under an OC who gets paid a hell of a lot of money. Stoops would be just fine considering all the talent he has here to work with. Heck he has beaten ranked teams at Arizona including Oregon with mediocre talent at Arizona. Stoops is not my first choice either but it would not be a train wreck hire either.

Getting the best players is better than having an X & O coach with mediocre players.

Of course it's ideal to have both.

I honestly think the coordinators should be x's&o's guys. The position coaches need to be good recruiters so they can recruit the guys to play the positions. Head coach should be a good recruiter. The coordinators need to communicate with the position coaches on the type of player they want at each position.

That way, the coordinators can focus more on the schemes than traveling around making recruit visits.

That's not close to the same thing. Johnny jones cosches basketball. Our basketball program needs infusion of talent and somebody who can sell program. Football needs no selling. Or way less at least

you can't do anything with out the players. YOu can run what ever type system you want, do anything you want, line em up how you want, doesn't matter, don't even need to know an x from an o if you have top tier players. Recruiting is the name of the game in college football.
