When will Hollywood finally make a Deep Web or Silk Road movie?

I'd think that screenwriters would be clambering to write something about these topics, especially with the success that The Social Network experienced at the box office.

I know it's not the same thing, but I can envision a deep web or Silk Road movie being a perfect Fincher movie.

Dark lit sets with an aura of puke green. A lonely but bright computer screen in the corner of a dingy room. A normal looking guy typing away at the keyboard. You soon realize this "nobody" on his computer in a dark dingy room is actual the multi-millionaire owner of Silk Road. And he just paid a hitman to kill a supplier who posts on his website.

Fascinating

Doesn't really seem like an interesting movie.

Didn't 8MM sort of have something to do with being along those lines?

Granted that was years ago though.

8mm was about finding the authenticity of a snuff film, if I remember correctly. Nothing to do with the internet.

Right, but I thought there was deep web type Internet stuff that was involved with finding the killer/creator of the snuff film.

Correct unless you want to argue that it's similar in that they both dealt with the "underworlds" of two entities: one the internet the other the porn business

Isn't that just a hacker movie?

The guy on House of Cards is pretty much a Deep Web guy.

An FBI agent chasing down drug dealers and assassins one the Deep Web might be kinda interesting, but it would have to leave the internet storyline quickly or people would get bored.

EDIT - Actually, an interesting angle may be a "Wolf on Wall Street" storyline. Nerdy arse punk in his 20s becomes super-rich with crypto-currency and engages in business and social gatherings with some of the worst people on Earth.

After the arrest of the alleged "Dread Pirate Roberts" Matt Taibbi remarked, "The one thing we learned from this press conference is that no one at the Justice Dept. has seen The Princess Bride.." I thought that was hilarious.

Wasn't The Matrix sort of a deep web thing as well? Neo was a hacker type who dug to deep so to speak.

Wolf of Wall Street meets The Social Network. I like it. Is Scorsese available?
