Does anybody here have a degree in sports management or know anyone with this particular degree? Ive been giving this serious thought because ill be home from Japan soon. Would a degree in marketing or a general business management be better?

General business degree
Marketing
The lowest of the business degrees.

Northwestern State and Delta State are two that I know of that have Master's in Sports Management.
I finished up my Master's last month.
If you do it, you better have a good bachelors to fall back on just in case.

Do it. Also, take out massive student loans because you're career path will definitely net you lots of money.

Unless you're planning to double major in something more practical, seems like a huge waste.

Guy I know that just got a degree in sports management couldn't find a job for 6 months and works at Bluebell now.

Major in sociology. It will take you far.

Depends what you want to do and where you see yourself in 10 years. Don't expect anything over $40k a year.

It seems like a useless degree.
If you want to be a coach, become a PE Teacher.
If you want to work in front offices, major in Finance and minor in Kineseology or some shite.

Sports Management degrees are as worthless as Art History.
For every front office administrator that makes $50k there are 100 ticket sellers waiting on their big break working for free tickets and hot dogs.
I once met a guy who was the Assistant General Manager of a AA baseball team. Sounds cool right? He made like $30k, was in charge of tickets, the restaurant, the press box and had to wash uniforms after the game.

Get a degree in Finance or something and minor in Sport Management. That way you'll have something else to fall back on when you can't find shite in Sports Management.

Like others have said depends on what you want to do.....I have a Master's in Sport Admin from Northwestern State....wasn't ready to work....didn't know what I wanted to do....me and a buddy did it together. It was actually very enjoyable and fun.
Did an assistantship and had it all paid for....as far as job possibilities Most of the people in our program are now high school or college coaches... Several of us went to law school and a few others went to chiropractic school

friend of mine has that degree from tamu ... worked at various colleges for many years in the AD depts in various roles ... now works for a private college as a general "campus" maintenance/logistics person in all areas, not just sports ...
it ain't the worst degree, but you'd need a grad degree to make some real gains later in life ...
