Grand Ole Opry star Little Jimmy Dickens passed away this afternoon at a Nashville area hospital at the age of 94. Jimmy died of cardiac arrest after suffering a stroke on Christmas Day. He is survived by his wife Mona Dickens, married since 1971, and two daughters, Pamela Detert and Lisa King. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time however a public visitation and a public service is being planned.
"The Grand Ole Opry did not have a better friend than Little Jimmy Dickens,” shared Pete Fisher, Opry Vice President & General Manager. “He loved the audience and his Opry family, and all of us loved him back. He was a one-of-kind entertainer and a great soul whose spirit will live on for years to come."

RIP little man

Went to the Opry once in the 70s. He was there. So was Jeanne Pruett (Satin Sheets). Don't recall the others.

Thanks for posting. Had read the other day that he was very ill. Been to the Grand Ole Opry several times and have always enjoyed. up here on KMON out of Great Falls, they still play when they go to the Classic "Country" Vault , Jimmy's , "May the Bird of Paradise Fly up YOur nose." Rest in Pease Little Jimmy, always enjoyed seeing you perform at the Grand Ole Opry.

Had to look up the lyrics for this because I was thinking it'd be about something totally different.

Don't know.

In June of 2014 Ann Davis(Alice on Brady Bunch), Rik Mayall, Ruby Dee, Casey Kasem, Bobby Womack, Meshach Taylor and Eli Wallach all died.

He always had to take an ol' cold tater and wait.

Great entertainer who never stopped working. RIP LJD.

"Life turned her that way" is one of the most underrated country music songs of all-time.

So is "Shopping for Dress" by Merle Haggard which Dickens co-wrote.
