So much change in ten years. 10 years ago, there was no Boneyard, Barley Browns, Block 15, HUB, Breakside, etc...

There was also no CCB, Westbrook, Parish, GR, etc...

There are some awesome things hapening in craft beer..

Kind of random question: how big of a joke is the "Must Be 21 to Enter" on beer websites? So stupid.

Craft beer is cool. I hope it stays around a little bit.

10 years ago to this exact date was 2005.

I knew of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, a couple beers by Abita, and Big Easy. SN PA was by far my favorite.

By mid-2005 I discovered Dogfish Head at a bar in Kingwood, TX. My, how my life has changed.

Here is my cup from Oregon Brewers Fest 2006.....I first went in 2004. We were in Portland and the fest happened to be going on so we paid the $10 and tried all these weird beers. I still remember tasting Bell's Hell Hath No Fury Ale and falling in love. Later during that trip I tried Full Sail IPA.....I married her. Got back to Dallas and couldn't find anything. About a year later we got Stone IPA and soon after Lagunitas. But it was tough to find. Now I fart in Stone and Lagunitas' general direction.

15-20 years ago was different, but 10 isn't too long ago. I knew of several craft breweries in 2005.

Plastic beer mug? That shite wouldn't fly at the fancy beer festivals these days.

Good stuff though, Zappa

I was a broke college kid 10 years ago, but when I drank craft it was Abita and St. Arnold. I would pick up Chimay and St. Barnardus at Specs when I was in Houston during Christmas and Summer.

ETA - Was Shiner considered craft back then?

All that was available in Oxford, MS 5 years ago was Shiner and Blue Moon. My Senior year Lazy Mag showed up with Southern Pecan and those of us into craft beer lost our minds. They followed with something called Reb Ale I drank some of just before graduation.

The growth in just the 3 years I've been into craft beer is incredible.

Couldn't agree more. Just think of all the sites ANYONE can visit.

My point isn't that there was no craft beer 10 years ago, but that craft beer has evolved tremendously in 10 years.

Many more great beers, today.

Agreed. As many great beers as you have access to in portland...I am only slightly jealous as we have some damn good local beers. I think the craft beer evolution in backwaters like dallas are even more drastic than in portland, Denver, Seattle, etc.

10 years ago craft beer consisted of kegs of Purple Haze and pitchers of Andygator. Never heard the word craft beer in my life.

About 5-6 years ago is when I learned about craft beer. This mosly started because of the folks at NOLA brewery. Also learned that Ave Pub wasn't just a neighborhood dive bar anymore but a world class beer destination. Lots of NOLA Blondes and St Chuck Ducks.

Fast forward to now and it's gone from a hobby to an out right problem. I put the blame solely on the shoulders of Kim Jong. The FBD threads have a handful of very knowledgable people. If you can sort through a lot of the BS, created by folks like me, you can learn so much about beers. I feel that my knowledge of beer right now is ahead of my abilities of tasting it because of the thread. Who knew meeting guys on the Internet could be so fun ?

Maybe 98-2003. I heard about craft beer late 2005-early 2006. It was certainly around.
