I'm selling like 30 items on there because I'm trying to clear out space and reduce clutter but I hate to throw it away. I keep getting these trashy sounding dudes from way out who are full court pressing to save $10 on a used item.

This guy from French Settlement called 6 times, texted 3 times, and emailed twice in the last 24 hours. All for a $20 tool that can be bought brand new for $45.

One text said "I called like you said but I guess u don't want my money!!!!"

I have a job and a family so I'm not the most responsive. Originally I told him I *might* be available Friday but I spent this morning selling two higher dollar items.

This other dude wanted to drive all the way from "near Alexandria" for a different used item that is probably $50 off retail but has significant wear and tear. I don't get it.

So you're trying to use a site intended to sell items and people are asking to buy them and you have a problem with it?

same experience. i was selling a $25 wiring kit and the dude was planning to drive from almost an hour away (each way) to come pick it up.

It's a haggling tactic. He shows up and looks disappointed by what you're selling then tries to make you feel guilty about the long drive he made. You feel guilty and give him a better deal.

Then he scouts your house out for a burglary/raping. Classic haggling.

Try listing a house for rent on their and see what kind of people you end up with calling you. It's like you sent out a mass text to the wal-mart discount club members.

Looks like St Vincent de Paul is about to get a bunch of crap I don't need.

It's an easy way for people to get on your property and scope things out for a future burglary.
Don't let any of those meth heads meet you at your house.
Walmart parking lots work just fine for a rendezvous.

Same experience here. Advertised a nice dresser for 100, several offers for less. Raised the price to 125, sold it the next day for 125. Whatever.

I was trying to sell my old truck for $22k. I had people calling and emailing all of the time offering me shite like $15k. I couldn't help but ream them out for being so stupid.

99% of the time the first thing they ask is "What's your bottom dollar?" I got so aggravated at that I started answering with $5k over what I had it listed for.

All works out in the end because I've sold a few expensive things, including two vehicles. Usually it is the person who shows up within a day or two that'll buy. I don't waste my time sending more than 5 emails back and forth

Should reply and ask what's the most they're willing to pay.

frick that, you could have a lot of fun with these people. Cheap and dumb is a deadly combination, you could troll the frick out of them.

I troll Craigslist pretty frequently looking for stupid sellers. They are as bad or worse than the people trying to buy.

frick.

That.

Sounds like a DIY nightmare. Craigslist people are freaking horrible.

Having said that, my wife moves a lot of stuff on Craigslist. I can't deal man. I prefer to use eBay, bite my pillow and get raped by PayPal to avoid selling on Craigslist

I don't deal with Craigslist anymore cause of all the morons who don't value their time. let alone mine, over trying to save a few bucks. I'm not sure many of them even understand English to be frank.
