LSU Baseball question

I'm a Mizzou grad/fan, live in Omaha, NE but somehow my son has dreamed of pitching for LSU from the very beginning.
Are there any baseball camps directly affiliated with the LSU program that my son can attend? I'm not sure that being dominant in Omaha will get him noticed by the best program in the country.

Where does he play Summer Ball?

He's been with the same club team for years, not much travel, just Kansas City area and maybe a trip to St. Louis. Omaha doesn't have that big time travel program. Football rules in Nebraska.

Has he done any showcases?
The LSU camps are mostly just a money grab to help get money to the unpaid assistants

Here is a list of and a link to the LSU coaches' baseball camps that were held in 2014. The camps are held mainly during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays every year.

So you would advise me to get him to showcases instead of camps. This is the kind of info I need.

I think I know how he's heard of us!

Get him involved with a travel team here that plays around scouting area. Marucci Elite, Team Louisiana, LA All Stars, etc.

What grade is he in? What position(s) does he play?
Posted on 1/2/15 at 2:03 pm to surgicalvenom
Yes. The camps are not meant to find talent. They're for "instruction" mostly and not worth the money if the goal is to catch the eye of the coaches. He'll get many more opportunities at showcases and playing in tournaments around the area on teams that were just mentioned.
If he's really set on LSU, he could walk on. Just this fall, a walk on pitcher made the spring roster.

What grade is your son in?

Not trying to be a dumb-arse, but how does he play on a team there if I have to live in Nebraska. Licensing does not allow me to just pick up and move.

HS Freshman. Pitching varsity. But problem is baseball is not big here, so how do we gauge his actual talent?
I would like to get him more rigorous competition and exposure.

These teams pick up players from all over the country and they just meet up with the team at tournaments. You don't have to move. Some players only make a couple tournaments to pitch a few games in front of scouts. If you contact a coach, they'll give you more details. Basically, you'd be traveling to the tournaments just as you would if your team was local.
