Don't see how they ever get decent coaches and players

Commuter school
Pro sports town
No on campus stadium
Shitty attendence(see number 3)
Plenty of other major schools in region

Am I missing something?

Link? It's one if the better public universities in the country.

Pitt has some legit history in football. Closing Pitt Stadium and not playing Penn State anymore really hurt the program I think. Now even the Backyard Brawl is gone.

It'd be nice to see them relevant again, but it'll be a tough job.

Historic program...Johnny Majors, Jackie Sherill won big there. Tony Dorsett and Dan Marino were quite successful.

It's kind of another example of CFB not being the same as it was...

Good decent recent history as others have said with Dorsett and Marino and national championship. Western PA and Ohio is a fertile recruiting ground and in the ACC they have some access to Florida and Georgia, Virginia and the Carolinas for recruiting. If they can get decent recruits from NY, PA, and OH they can be competitive.

Good campus is a decent town. The stadium is an issue but it's really nice.

Conner is a beast

Speaking of ESPN called him "Bull Conner". Anybody else find it ironic to nickname a black kid Bull Conner?

They had a great classic old stadium, if a bit small. Seems dumb to have torn that down.

You forgot the outfield wall and home plate from Forbes Field

As far as major schools, that isn't the case in sports. Pitt is about 4 hours from Penn State and 4 hours from tOSU. West Virginia is the closest.

Academically, you have a much better university (CMU) pretty much next door.
