Well last year I Bought two handgun safes for the nightstands to keep the kids out. Never liked them where they were and if someone wanted them they could just take the damn safe.. sooooo I found a solution I thought I'd share.

I drilled holes in the back and on my bedframe to mount them vertically and still be hid under the bed skirt. Thought some might find the idea handy... here are some pics.

After I tucked the skirt down and moved the table back just far enough for the door to fall open when opened. Works great

Does that open top down? If you opened it, would it just dump onto the floor?

Opens out toward the table. Top hinges open.

Is that the Gunvault Micro?
Can you post a picture with it open?

How do you deactivate the lock ?

I think I see a keyed lock in the photo. But it also looks like there may be some buttons for a combination. Do you have a better photo ?

I like your "bolt to the bed" concept -- looks very good.

I'm a fan of an entry system that doesn't require finding/inserting a key into a lock at 2:00 a.m. (I prefer vaults with the Simplex locks, since there are no batteries to replace.)

Opens with fingerprint. Key backup. When I get back to the house I will post a picture open

Mine (G19) is just atop of my nightstand. I understand your situation dictates what you got but I hope you never wake up to perps already in your bedroom.

Here ya go. It opens all the way. I moved the nightstand back so it only opens what we need.

Great idea.

I think I would have to start cutting on the bed skirt though and come up with something where it's not in the way.

Its really not. As I pull the skirt up I pish the button and run my finger across and safe pops opens. Less cumbersome than I though.

@KR I grew up with pistols in drawers and that as well. My kids are little and we speak about them, but the other day my nieces were over and plying hide and seek in my closet since it was training outside and they ran across my .22 ar and wanted to play with it. Of course it is unloaded and the magazine isn't even with the gun. My kids and I speak of weapons but I can't say that for everyone who comes over

Am I seeing this right? I don't have a gun safe, so I'm not sure how they work, but in the picture you show, the barrel would be pointing toward you as you go to grab it from the bed.

If you grab a loaded pistol in a crisis situation and drag the barrel across your face or chest instead of grabbing it with your dominant hand in ready position you don't need one by your bedside.

If the perps are already in your bedroom when you wake up, a gun sitting on top of your nightstand isn't going to help you either

No way. That is the grip. Barrel is down. The way it sits its drawn with my dominant hand and barrel pointed down as I sleep on my left side. I'm right handed. It sits as if its holstered just in a pop open case.

I've got a home security system that goes off immediately if any door or window is opened. It would take a "Mission Impossible" type of criminal to get into my bedroom without alerting me.

i don't keep a loaded gun in the house. Have guns but too many kids around to keep one ready to go.
