All it took was a plane ticket, and an informal background check over Facebook. Then he was ushered to the front lines in Syria, fighting against the Islamic State.

Has anyone here personally known anyone to head over and fight? If I was single/divorced, never seen combat before, and didn't want the strings that come with the US Army/USMC this would be a no brainer.

When we went to war with Iraq, were we fighting Shia, Sunnis, and Kurds, or just Sunnis? I'm talking right after 9/11.

You would have to have no brain to think that is a good idea.

Typically Shia and Kurds if I am not mistaken. I believe most of Saddam's supporters with Sunni. Not to say one group is preferable to the other, but I believe that is how it was. Someone correct me if I am incorrect in that.

No shite, what other outlet do the rest of us have for our murderous rage? Passive-aggressively undermining our children's self-esteem can help a little bit, but you can't compare that to the release of taking a man's life. Not even close.

Don't see how going over there to starve, having 12 year olds as your fighting partner, and doing street battles with suicide bombers is a good idea. I've read where the older Kurds are great fighters but I think they are more used to fighting in the rural mountains, not in middle of town, plus most of their veterans are probably in their 60s now.

I think you took it the wrong way..See my answer above...He wants to fight without all the politics associated with the US Military..To them, a kill is a kill..To us, a kill could be a court martial..

Dude, you're way over-thinking this. They let you kill people, and no forms to fill out or anything!!!
