What was Alleva thinking what that clause the ticked off Chavis??? I mean, come on...if Miles didn't leave for Michigan this last time, he isn't going to unless he retires. So, what is the point of the clause? Stupid. They let him get away! If they put Peveto in charge of the defense again, I may stop watching LSU football.

sell your tickets, we don't need fans who stop watching football because a coach leaves.

It's one thing to be pissed off at our staff. It's another thing to boycott a team because of the idiocy of one person.

You should be more worried that joe and les allowed chavis to tank the bowl game.

Miles is an old man, so Chief needed security. A&M is desperate for any type of defensive help. Basically, they were name chasing. The guaranteed contract is all that Chief needed, and that's what will get from A&M.

He was probably thinking he would use standard contract language for assistant coaches.

He was thinking correctly, you can't guarantee that a new coach would keep Chavis if something happened to Miles. And, you don't want to pay him when he is not coaching if a new coach brings in his own DC.

Why did Chavis care about that clause? He shouldn't have had any problems getting a new job if Miles was no longer the coach here.

it has the appearance of a department that "thinks" it may have to pull the trigger

fwiw, Alleva, while I cannot stand the man, has to go to other powerful groups before sayin yeah or nah to these things.

digging deep, someone or something powerful may be trying to set up a change in the next two/three years

He should have left at the end of the season. At least then we could have landed Muschamp or Pellini.

He was probably thinking it'll be refreshing to stop the 2 minute drill for a change.

There was concerns of all the losses in final minutes of ballgames.

It was a legit concern and Chavis had a nice offer on the table. This defense will be in the top 5 next year so you will have some talented DCs wanting to come.

"Maybe he's thinking about firing ole Less soon"
didn't cross my mind when this first happened but after hearing about the clause of being tied into les and the disguise of if he goes to another school or retires then No K with Chavis definitely had me thinking about what you are saying there LSUAMerican.
