Place in Baton Rouge to adopt dogs?

Where are some places to find a dog to adopt? I'm having a hard time wanting to spend 500-1000 on a dog, when there's plenty without a home. Thanks.

I have a 18-month chocolate lab that's available for adoption.

There is a pound near the airport and they usually post pics online of dogs up for adoption.

I got both of mine from YELP on Greenwell Springs rd. near Airline. Very easy to work with.

Animal control shelter on Progress Dr, a little past the airport. I adopted a beautiful female golden from there 2 Sundays ago and they have a TON of dogs. Lots of mutts and pits, but there are some beautiful dogs there without homes.

CAAWS (not to be confused with CAA) on Saturdays. They have a very small amount of dogs but most are fostered out meaning they are not living in a shelter but foster parents homes with constant human and other pet interactions. You get to talk with the shelter volunteers as well as foster parents to select the right adoption for you and your situation. They did such an incredible job for us, the wife and I are considering joining their foster program so we can foster a dog for someone else. Not all of their dogs have photos or videos up so you just have to go on a Saturday and interact.

We adopted our dog through St. Martin Humane Society. They were easy to work with, and ended up getting the best dog I've ever owned.

Not in BR but Lafayette is close. Check out Friends of Lafayette Animal Shelter on FB, they've got a bunch.

Used to be the same way. Now the first person I talk to when I get home from work is my dog.
