You worked for a company that is under performing. You think your bosses decisions/performance are going in the wrong direction. You have an opportunity to make more $$ in a somewhat more stable organization, with a boss that is also under performing in your marketplace, but makes sound decision and is using the newest techniques. Under current leadership and market conditions with organization would you prefer?

Easy choice.

I'd be embarrassed to do my grocery shopping if I represented this LSU coaching staff. I'd want to get out of town too.

Man, there are some simple-minded thinking on this board.

It's funny.

Deeper thought on the business aspect of this deal would involve lack of trust in Miles' ability to keep LSU strong moving forward. Maybe Chavis is more than just insulted by the 'Miles must stay head coach' clause in his deal. Maybe even he does not trust the savant's good fortune to continue.

This actually makes sense...he will most likely be working under someone else in the next couple years...why not go ahead and make a change and go somewhere that has all the puzzle pieces jus needs help putting them together

And you are not a high performer but ask for raise and leave in the middle of your project, nice.

And it's a business decision for LSU...

If there is a head coaching change and the next guy in can not easily bring in his own people because we're forced to keep Chief on it would make that search/transition even more difficult.

That's why Chavis was offered a deal with no force-out clause, but only 2 years.

The aggies don't have all the puzzle pieces. Sumlin along with Chavis could be done in 2 years time.

However, LSU loses its battles to division opponents too often and they have hurt in the past, whether it be missing on players or coaches giving them the holiday F U.

Exactly. My performance is sub par here and they want me for more $$ guaranteed. Thank my lucky stars.

How is A&M a more stable organization?

Sumlin can only go up. A little improvement each year and he can stay for 3 or 4. Miles goes 8-5 and bottom tier of west for 2 years he is out. Hell, some would say no playoff for two years and he's a gone pecan.

because LSU should force a new HC to keep on a DC he may not want or else pay Chavis to sit on his fat arse at his lake house in Tennessee?

frick that.

all of you who think a 60-something year old DC who has never wanted to be a HC at any level gives two fricks about LSU football performing at a high level in the future are out of your minds.

this is about money and the ability to make it whether he's working or not. A&M is desperate.

Miles out in two years = $2.66mm for chief
Sumlin out in two years = $6.8mm for chief
