Rex Ryan is unrealistic. I say we go after Venables, Orgeron, or Pruitt. If Orgeron doesn't get the DC title maybe give him the D-Line? I definitely still want the Chief but that seems unrealistic at this point.

I don't understand the obsession with Orgeron as DC -- he's never been a DC.

Brent Venables

#1 Defense in NCAA this year. from Wiki...

quote:

In January 2012, after it was announced that Mike Stoops would be returning to Oklahoma to resume the defensive coordinator position he had held until 2004, Venables accepted the position of defensive coordinator at Clemson, where his salary was expected to be between $750,000 and $1 million.

He is affordable.

our best shot

Pruitt isn't going to three schools in three seasons, and Ed O is way too big of a gamble

I like Clancy Pendergrast a lot too

I wanted state to look at Chuck Heater at Marshall. Good coach with experience, wouldn't have to throw too much money at him and he is 100% a good hire. Plus you don't just walk up on a guy with a name like that every day.

Todd Grantham.

Apparently Grantham and Petrino hate each other. Make this happen, LSU.

Dude, we were paying Chavis 1.3 and have one of the highest coaching staff salaries in the NCAA.

the only way we lure away Kirby Smart is if we slap a HCIW title on him and HCIW titles are stupid so I'll pass

First error in your post. FYI we have the highest paid football staff in the country not even if you take Miles Salary out of the equation.

Second error - yes we are still an elite program we had a down year this year so one down year makes us not elite anymore? Nope!

I would call Dick Bumpus at TCU...I know "Bump" very well and he might just jump at the chance. I called him before we hired Chavis and he was open to dismissing it with LSU but they never called.

Bumpus has been Coordinator of the year three times at TCU. Played at Arky, coached at Vandy with Parcels, and Notre Dame under Holtz and briefly at Utah State. He and Patterson are close at TCU but Patterson is making all the money.

Very sound guy. Would be a terrific hire at LSU

If it is Steele, Peveto or Bebe Id be upset.

I do think if we lose Brick to hire Bebe on the spot for DL the guy is a great DL coach and fantastic recruiter, he and Frank would hold down La.
