I just finished reading "The Stand" and it might be the best book I've ever read. It is the first King work I've read too. What should be next on my list?
Sorry if wrong board, I figured this was the best place for it.

My favorite king book is "it". I'm not sure if it's the best one, but it's the first one I read and After that I was hooked.
I will also recommend 11/22/63. It is a recent book and I liked it a lot. I have dr sleep up next.

Dark Tower series, IT, and his short stories. Almost all of his early works are worth it.

Misery
and
The Shining (put the movie out of your mind and you will enjoy it more I think)

His short stories are the basis for many films ... Running man, the long walk, apt pupil, etc ...
And the dark tower series is his best, imo ... Also wrote The body, which was made into Stand by Me ...

Most of his early work is top notch.
I still haven't read Cujo but always hear it is great.
The Shining and Salem's Lot are probably my favorites from his early years.
The Talisman and IT are good reads.
Heck, I really liked all of his old stuff including the short story books.
At some point his books become a bit repetitive.
Bag of Bones was a great read but a horrible mini-series.

I think all 4 novellas in Different Seasons were made into movies - Apt Pupil, Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, and I'm drawing a blank on the 4th.
The Stand, It, and The Shining are my favorite King books, but I lost interest in his books years ago and haven't read any of his stuff in years.

Go to BAM. Go to section all King's books are at. Close eyes. Throw a dart. Pick whichever one you hit.
I can't recall many of his books being subpar. He's the greatest author of our generation.

Flagg is also the villain in Eyes of the Dragon. Very underrated King book.

Quick easy book is Thinner. Also, I like his short stories more than his books.
My favorite is Duma key but that is a slow, slow buildup.
I haven't read it but my dad raves all the time about the JFK book king wrote recently. 11-6-65 or something.
