"I think the biggest problem is it wasn't taught that those things are not OK. It was assumed that you would know that," Strief said. "The perception sometimes from a young guy could be, 'Well, maybe being five minutes late didn't lose that game' -- which is true. But a bunch of guys with the mentality that the rules don't apply to them can lose that game. So that's why you talk about the 'little things.'"

Interesting.

Though no specific instances were revealed, we do know of at least three player discipline issues that came up this season. Rookie linebacker Khairi Fortt was released by the team, reportedly because of missing or being late to meetings. Receiver Joe Morgan was suspended for two games for an unspecified team issue. And defensive tackle John Jenkins was left behind on a road trip for a game for an unspecified reason early in the year.

Yup and agree with ^ said with all the issues, this team was void of a strong voice in the locker room that told players to shut up and focus.

I thought striefs point was very intelligent.

It's been a given for so long that they took it for granted

I think Sean Payton made that clear several times this year with suspensions, cuts, etc.

We lost Malcolm Jenkins, Harper, and Greer on defense. Before that, we lost Vilma and Will Smith.

Say what you want about some of their performances, but they were professionals who gave there all and took zero bullshite. Hard to replace when that core leaves and is replaced with youth. Byrd may come into that role for the secondary, but it still takes time.

Jenkins is the most alarming. I know he was injured, but he was overweight this season and poorly conditioned. An injury isn't an excuse to become a fat arse. He is crucial to the success of our defense. If he can become a stead NT, we'll have a consistent pass rush and he'll eat the run up in the middle.

Lets not forget one of our own "team captains" blabbered all on twitter constantly. For all Galette can do, I'd love for him to STFU and worry about beating 1v1 matchups.

Funny you say that- I have a friend who went on a double date this season with a friend of his girlfriend, and her boyfriend, who is a current player. My friend didn't want to press him too much about what was going on, but the guy said something along the lines of "it's hard to have a good defense when your two defensive captains are more worried about their Twitter feed than the upcoming game plan." Obviously that isn't the total reason our defense was pathetic this year, but it does speak to the lack of leadership on that side of the ball. I don't think we missed Smith, Vilma, Greer, Harper, and Jenkins too much as players this year, but loosing that many vets/leaders at once definitely took a toll on our defense.

Dog Corey all you guys want, but at least he manned up and voiced an opinion on what is going on - and I applaud him for it.

You have a valid point but the only front seven player on this putrid D who had a better season than Galette was Lofton.

Junior was annoying, sure. Jordan and Hicks straight up disappeared.

Yep. There was just no reason for it and was honestly incredibly stupid.\

Yeah, there's nothing like one of the worst players on the team complaining about what's wrong with the team. Bravo, Corey.

Know what would be funny? If Sean Payton sees this and cuts White. We all know how Payton is. He has his favorites and will cut your arse if you need to be made an example.
